Don’t overleverage yourself and your business by relying solely on 1 channel.

Sometimes getting the majority of your business from a single marketing channel can be a double edged sword.

On one side, it is great that you are busy and business is doing well today, but rarely in life are there silver bullets and relying upon 1 source for business isn’t going to bring peace of mind in the long term.

From our experience, sooner or later that day always comes up and business slows down.

What then?

Rather than waiting to see what happens, it’s important to be mindful of the importance of having an omnichannel approach when it comes to marketing your business - a multifaceted approach that isn’t reliant upon 1 single source for business.

That is probably one of the most important things when it comes not only building a stable law practice but any business in general.

Want more business?

Do this first.

When we speak to clients, one of the most common things we hear is - “We are looking for more business”. Great … but, once we examine what is currently happening internally, it turns out what clients actually need to fix first, is their leaky bucket.

What does this mean?

Spend some time analyzing the client journey to make sure your clients are getting the best possible experience. When did the case land in your inbox? How soon did you try to establish contact? Did you use a phone, email or both? When did you follow up? How many times in a day?

Even if we deliver 50 or 100 qualified leads, that effort will be for nothing, if you can’t get these leads to convert to new business.

When we work with clients, we constantly communicate with them to make sure those leads are being worked properly and in a timely manner.

I used to hear a lot of scepticism when offering marketing retainers to law firm clients: "Marketing agencies never deliver any meaningful ROI", "All leads are junk or unqualified," "Google ads don't work," etc.
And these concerns were valid. Before we launched Muunwall, I only thought that the way to make things work is by charging a setup cost and monthly retainer to manage clients' advertising channels. Like all models this one has its issues - if I could describe with one word - inconsistency.
Some months we'd hit our targets, some months we'd fall short, and some months we couldn't deliver results at all. It was a nightmare for both myself and our clients, and it made scaling a practice really difficult.
So, we decided to pivot to a new model based purely on results: no setup costs, monthly retainers and uncertainty. Buy as many leads as you need - that is it, nothing more.
We scaled our team to access leads in new markets and added guarantees - only pay for quality leads delivered exclusively to you.
The feedback has been amazing. Now the conversations are like "Can you send over more leads like last time?" and "Can you be exclusive to our area?"

If you would like to know how we can help you maximize the growth of your legal practice through pay per lead marketing, please do get in touch.

Till this day, word of mouth is the most powerful way to get new business.

Case referrals don't seem to cost any marketing spend.

So why spend a lot of money finding non-referral cases you may ask?

Top firms in the country spend millions each year on their marketing to bring on new marketing-generated cases.

Referrals are a great BONUS and should be treated as a reward for providing excellence to your clients.

But the latter don’t come by every day. You can't turn the dial-up and suddenly be flooded with new referrals the next day.

Marketing generated leads on the other hand is within your control.

The only real restriction is how many people need help with their cases in your total addressable market. That number likely far exceeds your current monthly case intake.

The ideal legal marketing and intake system allows you to exchange dollars for people's attention, and convert the right people into new cases at a generous profit.

You have the flexibility to turn up the dial on your marketing system when your intake system is not at full capacity.

Similarly when you can't intake any more clients, you can dial down your marketing-generated leads.

It has never been easier to create and scale legal marketing systems.

It goes without saying that a lot of work goes into building a great legal marketing and intake system.

But firms that want peaceful and profitable law practice at scale, having a system like that is a matter of priority.

Relying solely on large, "whale" cases to drive your Personal Injury practice is not a sustainable or peaceful strategy.

While these cases can bring in significant revenue, they are difficult to build a business around in a predictable way.

Perhaps, a better approach is to have a system in place for acquiring and handling a steady stream of smaller, "micro settlement" cases to supplement the whale cases. These cases may not bring in as much revenue individually, but they can provide a more stable and predictable income for your practice.

Additionally, having a steady flow of micro settlement cases can help balance out the highs and lows that come with relying on large cases or solely on referrals.

Of course we are wholeheartedly advocating and proactively working with our clients to help them set up various methods and strategies to capture such whale cases.

But for your own sanity, you need a predictable and consistent strategy to acquire and handle a stream of everyday micro settlement cases, at scale, as your firms' bread and butter.

This is the path of least resistance to balance out the peaks and valleys of a referral-only practice or being reliant on large settlement cases.

Success leaves clues.

Top personal injury teams have a few key things in common when it comes to successful case enrolment and lead generation.

1. Speed

One of the most important factors is speed. In today's fast-paced environment, people expect things to happen immediately - with instant access to information and assistance. A slow website or case intake system can cost you potential business.

2. Cut through the white noise

Another key factor is cutting through the noise on the internet. Your firm's website and online presence must be able to guide potential clients through the steps of awareness, interest, evaluation, and decision-making. Pretty basic stuff, yet we regularly see firms skip one of these steps which impacts their business.

3. Systems

Additionally, it's important to have systems in place to handle cases quickly, and to continue providing excellent service and communication throughout the entire process.

The good news for you is most firms are not leveraging all the easy wins available to them. Even in 2023 you still have the opportunity to drastically outperform the competition with the right tools and strategies.
