I’ve really gotten to like designing album art and loved the opportunity to again work with the singer . This is the official lettering artwork for his first studio album, Roots, which really wanted to portray all the growth and changes the artist has had through his career. The photograph for the back cover was taken by me as also was the overall graphic design of the project, also helping design posters for the event for social media platforms. The word “ROOTS” is modified type, using the font Dakota, making changes to the lowercase s, the capital T and the double o’s, extending the leg of the R as well as adding small spikes to the letters as well as small ornaments and a light golden shadow effect.

Custom lettering for done in 2024 for his second single: “Chance”. The sketch was initially done with calligraphy in , and then color and effects were added using photoshop. The color and style had to reflect feelings of love and breaking up, that’s why the color pink was used. It also had to combine with the art direction and color styles used in the final music video, with a retro 90s feel.

Logo design for the singer done in 2024. This was definitely a challenge for the eyes! Since the design requiered two words, I worked on making the swashes help compose it as a whole. The logo also had to learn towards urban hip hop, reggae roots and R&B, so the style had to adhere to that audience. A monogram was also designed for further implementation in projects such as streetwear.

Logo design for the cumbia singer done in 2021. I was really experimenting with high contrast script during this time, so it was fun and a challenge to finally apply it in a logo! I also wanted to use more color and have the style really resonate with the music genre. I refined the logo in the end process, tracing and retracing the shapes so that everything could be seen as harmonious.

Logo design for the reggae band done in 2019. For this project, I did several different sketches, and the letter P ended up being my favorite letterform in this design. The way it wraps and swirls like a vortex, definitely fit the band in that time, also the subtle points and lines inside the letters gave it that funky reggae feel. The logo isn’t current because of the band’s evolution, but I was very happy with what was produced.

Logo for the reggae band .reggae designed in 2017. This project was right around when I was using crayons markers to do brush calligraphy and when I had recently learned how to use Bézier curves in illustrator. The amazing thing is how timeless this logo has been and that it fits just right with the “reggae music” vibe. Thanks to for believing in my work all those years ago!

Just 4 months ago!
This was a challenging, yet rewarding project to work on! Having designed just a pillar with some lettering for a collaboration with , I had mentioned to the client that something could be done to the interior, which was just white at the time. After designing the digital mockups and a few mural options, we were ready. This project really grew my love for painting, as I had also something to illustrate and work with color!

9 months ago. This job was quite a challenge to do, in regards to the spacing and composition. I had to lightly draw out a grid with columns and rows in proportion to my initial sketch to be able to replicate the exact design on the wall of this café. Along with the composition, I thought out the color that would best compliment the interior of the coffee shop. All the letters were done with one brush and the design was completed in 3 days, 3 hours each day. My favorite parts were the sans serif letters and the big script. Fun stuff!

About a year ago. This project was an interesting commission and the first time I worked side my side with someone with similar skills with a paintbrush. We took two weekends to get the job fully accomplished which was accenting furniture and architecture in this unique jewelry and clothing store made for “cholitas” from La Paz, Bolivia. This project was the last innovation for the owner and it was a big honor to have been an important playing part of all this! Thanks to for his slick brush skills!

Almost 1 year ago.
More COLOR! This project was fun in the sense of being able to work with a little more color and have it compliment the interior. Other than that, working with this composition was quite fun and challeging due to the long message I had to make fit and also have the typography truly represent each word and it’s feeling. After doing the initial sketches and having everything be approved by the client, I painted it in two and a half days. A big thanks to my girlfiend for painting my hamburger and sandwich drawings. :)
