Web Summit Rio, as told by Wolven: field notes from the event plus a GPT-powered deep dive into the (almost) unfiltered brilliance of our WhatsApp group.
We came as a petit comité from Wolven to hear what’s buzzing at the biggest startup event in Latin America: Web Summit Rio.
Now, as the event wraps up and Lady Gaga broke a world record, we’re taking a moment to reflect on what we’ve learned and how it connects to the way we build digital products that serve people, not just users. Coming soon:
👉 Fernanda Parisi will talk about AI and Women in Tech
👉 Rafael Amaral will share thoughts on Tech Talent and Reputation
👉 Maria Antonia Zanta Nobre Nobre will dive into Pitching with purpose
Meanwhile, while real people are still drafting their thought pieces, here are some GPT-certified highlights straight from our group chat:
» “I’m heading there now” was said more often than “AI is changing the world.”
» Wi-Fi password was asked at least 5 times.
» Our marketing coordinator introduced herself as 'Antônia from Brazil' instead of 'Antonia from Wolven' to a circle of swisstech investors. At least she was wearing our t-shirt.
» Tried to attend a talk only to find out it started two hours ago. We’re a Brazilian team, but we weren’t late... they were just aggressively early!
» We came home with a lot of new swag, including: a pocket-sized Stanley cup from Lojas Renner S.A. (hydration, but make it fashion), a Vale eco bag featuring Brazilian fauna (arguably more soulful than any NFT), a stress ball from Fully Ecosystem (which may or may not double as a premium dog toy).
» Let’s take a moment to appreciate the culinary highlights: beer (affectionately called 'mé' by locals) courtesy of Prefeitura do Rio de Janeiro, Salesforce's honorary Michelin star snacks, and bobó de banana with dendê farofa — officially crowned the summit's top gourmet experience by our very scientific internal poll (read: one very passionate voice note).
