Famitsu elege Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom como melhor jogo de 2023; confira top 5

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Final Fantasy XVI
Super Mario Bros. Wonder
Suika Game
Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero ganha novas imagens dos personagens

Créditos: Bandai Namco
Revelado durante o The Game Awards 2023, Dragon Ball: Sparking!

Why Gogoro picked India as its new go-to market

Gogoro co-founder and CEO Horace Luke wants to “go big” in India even as the Taiwanese company faces challenges in its home country.
The potential of India, it seems, is simply to ripe to ignore and not just because it’s the world’s biggest two-wheeler market, where 15–20 million new two-wheelers hit roads every year. Luke also sees the world’s most populous country as a launch pad that will accelerate its global expansion in other markets. It’s not a bad tactic, considering India is already on a spree to become a competitive manufacturing hub for all major international brands and products starting from smartphones to satellites.
Earlier this month, Gogoro made its first commercial entry into India with the introduction of its battery-swapping network and smartscooters after running pilots and investing millions of dollars in the country. Talking on the sidelines with Luke at the company’s event, it’s clear his ambitions stretch beyond this initial debut.
Founded in 2011 by former HTC executives Luke and Matt Taylor, Gogoro considers itself the Android of all EVs. It offers its proprietary technology to other automobile manufacturers alongside selling its own branded scooters with swappable batteries. The company already operates in markets including China, Indonesia, Singapore, Israel and the Philippines — alongside its hometown in Taiwan.
The company has picked India as a strategic market from where it can reach a number of new users and enter new markets, starting with neighboring country Nepal, Luke said at the company’s launch in New Delhi.
The new developments are on the heels of Gogoro’s earlier India announcements, including the early battery-swapping pilot in Delhi, a partnership with Belrise Industries to invest a total of $2.5 billion in Maharashtra to build its battery-swapping infrastructure and network in the western peninsular state and $25 million investment in electric fleet management startup Zypp Electric.
Gogoro is in talks with various local and global players to expand its business and presence in India, Luke stated without sharing any names. The company is already working with domestic manufacturers to produce its components locally, which it currently assembles at a facility in Maharashtra in partnership with Foxconn. It is also looking to partner with Indian and global automobile manufacturers who can deploy its technology, helping to grow its business in the country. The company has about 11 vehicle manufacturers in Taiwan that are building vehicles of different sizes and configurations based on its standard battery size, the executive said. These include the likes of Suzuki, Yamaha, and Aeonmotor, among others. He indicated that some of these may come to India along with Gogoro’s swappable battery technology over time.
“Everybody’s waiting for me to bring the network,” Luke said without divulging specific details. “Once the network goes live, they’ll [partners] bring in their capacity and capability.”
In April 2021, Gogoro partnered with Indian two-wheeler giant Hero MotoCorp to roll out its battery-swapping network in the country. However, that deal has not yielded any results.
When asked how Gogoro will utilize its partnership with Hero MotoCorp and why it did not choose the local automobile player for its debut and instead introduced its own range of smartscooters in the country, Luke shared a sketchy response and said the top management of Hero MotoCorp did wish him success before the launch.
“Their [Hero MotoCorp] brand and company as a whole is very B2C focused… As we launch with a B2B focus first, we keep them abreast of all the stuff that’s happening,” he said. “We’re an open platform. One day, they’ll be ready [to] launch a vehicle using our system. But it’s really a chicken and egg [situation]. I need to prove that there is a platform that is ready before they actually can go in, come in and do that.”
Mimicking Taiwan model
Gogoro plans to simulate its Taiwan growth in India by launching 30 stations in Delhi by the first quarter of 2024. The company began its journey in Taipei with the same number of stations but has since expanded to 12,500 stations that serve around 600,000 vehicles throughout Taiwan. It is open to making many more investments in India to reach that level and even grow bigger over time.
“If you think about Pan India, we are talking about several billion dollars easily by 2030–2032,” Luke asserted.
He informed reporters at the launch that Gogoro’s battery-swapping system captures 93% of all electric vehicles in Taiwan — of which about 80% use its own branded vehicles. The company is not limited to two-wheelers in its home country but also offers its swapping-battery technology to players that run auto-rickshaws.
Nonetheless, the growth of Gogoro is stagnant and is even dropping in Taiwan, as Luke admitted to TechCrunch.
In its recent earnings report [PDF], the Nasdaq-listed company mentioned a 10.2% year-on-year drop in its revenue of $91.8 million, resulting in a net loss of $3.1 million, down from a net income of $56.4 million in the same quarter last year.
He underlined there were a couple of reasons for seeing a decline in its financials and dropping its business in Taiwan. Firstly, he said, it was due to a lobbying effort against the speed of electric vehicle adoption after the 2020 elections. Secondly, the country took some time to return from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Taiwan has always been a pilot for us,” Luke stated. “It has always been a market where we used to develop the technology, develop the system so that when we do come to India, we’re ready. And so that’s where the pivot point now is.”
He compared that gasoline in Taiwan has been subsidized to the level that it is available at an average price of 0.85 cents per liter, significantly less than the average price of $1.4 per liter in India, above the global price of $1.22.
Although Gogoro is optimistic about its India launch, the country has a relatively small market for EVs, accounting for only 3.7% of the country’s total automotive market. Electric scooters in the country capture 90% of the total EV sales, but that is just about 5% of the overall two-wheeler market. The Indian government has allocated billions of dollars in subsidies and discounts to attract manufacturers and commuters for EVs. However, these benefits only remain in place for a short time, and some disruption due to the changes in their structure has recently been seen in the electric two-wheeler market. Yet, Gogoro — similar to other players in the EV market — is bullish since the Indian government has targeted 30% EV adoption by 2030. Gogoro’s approach to considering India as a manufacturing hub will also likely appeal to the government and help the company shift some of its production from China and enter new markets.
It’s important to note that although Gogoro’s revenue dropped significantly in the last quarter, its battery-swapping service continued to grow, with a revenue of $33.6 million, up 10.4% year-on-year. As the company looks to collaborate with other vehicle manufacturers in India for its battery-swapping technology, it could be a mutually beneficial move for both Gogoro and automobile players. Indian automotive players actively seek solutions to reduce charging time and offer efficient alternatives to ICE vehicles. By providing its technology to vehicle manufacturers, Gogoro can tap into this need and increase its battery-swapping service revenues.
A recent report jointly created by Bain & Company and Blume Ventures forecast that electric two-wheelers without batteries can reduce the upfront cost of vehicles by 40-50%, attracting price-sensitive Indian customers. However, it also warned that building a battery-swapping ecosystem in India will be challenging in the near term and suggested maintaining a battery-swapping inventory for top SKUs across manufacturers, identifying customer segments to target, and establishing “walled-garden” partnerships to support swappable-battery systems.
An investor told TechCrunch that to really succeed, the market needs interoperability and standardization in battery swapping, similar to how we have USB-C in phones nowadays. But for Gogoro, it is just a start to explore how big dent it can make in the overall EV market with its available battery-swapping solution.
“I got an entire ecosystem I need to bring in. It took us a little while to get ready, and it will take us a little while to ramp up. And I’m not fooling anybody that this thing is going to be overnight,” Luke said. “India’s a huge place. There’s a lot of different use cases. The price-performance people ask for is very high… So, through making more of the components and making more parts in India, with our Indian suppliers, we’ll definitely start, and then more and more localization would certainly help.” Fonte: Adre

Google to pay $700 million and make tiny app store changes to settle with 50 states

The biggest change: Google will need to let developers steer consumers away from the Google Play Store for several years, if this settlement is approved. You can read the full 68-page settlement for yourself at the bottom of this story, but here’s the TL;DR about what it includes:Does that sound like a lot? If you add it all up, it does make for a slightly different Google app store landscape than we’ve experienced over the past decade and change. But not only does every one of these concessions have an expiration date, many of them are arguably not real concessions.Google argued during the Epic v. Google trial that users were already perfectly able to install third-party apps on their devices through any number of means, and it claimed many of its agreements with developers, OEMs, and carriers did not require them to, for instance, exclusively put Google Play on a phone or its homescreen. We confirmed with Google spokesperson Dan Jackson this evening that User Choice Billing participants are given a discounted rate of just 4 percent off of Google’s fee when users choose their own payment system, and that it won’t change as a result of the settlement. Not only did Google internally find that developers would lose money when users choose the 4 percent rate, but Google also gives companies like Spotify a free ride while apparently charging everyone else.Perhaps most importantly, Google is reserving the right not to let developers like Netflix link to their own websites to give their users a discounted rate. “Google is not required to allow developers to include links that take a User outside an app distributed through Google Play to make a purchase,” the settlement agreement reads. We are still waiting to find out whether Apple will allow links and/or buttons to alternative payment systems, based on the ruling in Epic v. Apple. But the Google / state AGs settlement suggests that regardless, Google will not be required to allow links. In a tweet, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney calls the settlement “an injustice to all Android users and developers,” adding that it “endorses Google’s 30% monopoly rent imposition, by replacing the anticompetitive Google Play Billing tie with a new anticompetitive Google-imposed ‘user choice billing’ tie which adds a useless 26% Google Tax for payments they don’t process.” Epic has an official blog post that basically says the same.According to court filings, the states will ask Judge James Donato to approve the settlement on February 8th. That’s the same judge overseeing Epic v. Google, and both of those parties will be discussing what Epic may have actually won in that case during the second week of January. Google says it will pay $700M as a part of Play Store dispute settlement

Google said today it will pay $700 million — $630 million to U.S. consumers and $70 to a fund used by U.S. states — in a settlement over Play Store reached in September.
In September, the company reached a tentative settlement in a class action lawsuit filed by U.S. states and consumers originally filed in 2021. However, the search giant made the details of the settlement public today. The complaint highlighted Google’s monopoly over app distribution on Android through the Play Store.
In November 2022, Google started a pilot of its user choice billing program in the U.S., which allowed developers to use alternative payment methods for in-app purchases. Today, the company said it will expand the program in the country as part of the settlement. Google said that developers will be able to show different costs of a purchase in the app based on the billing method chosen by the customer.
The company also said that it would make the sideloading process streamlined. However, it emphasized that the company will alter messaging around sideloading.
Currently, users see a pop-up with warning text when they try to sideload an app. This pop-up then takes users to a settings screen where they can install apps from “unknown sources.” Google will have to combine both these screens as part of the settlement. The agreement states that the company will have to maintain this flow of sideloading for at least five years without altering it.

Here's how Google will simplify sideloading in Android.
As part of a proposed class action lawsuit settlement, Google said it will revise the default sideloading flow in Android. Here's exactly what they're changing:
1) The pop-up with the text "For your security, your phone… pic.twitter.com/ao3YoqeUMN
— Mishaal Rahman () December 19, 2023

“While we maintain it is critical to our safety efforts to inform users that sideloading on mobile could come with unique risks, as part of our settlement we will be further simplifying the sideloading process and updating the language that informs users about these potential risks of downloading apps directly from the web for the first time,” said Wilson White, VP, Government Affairs & Public Policy at Google.
Google pointed out in its blog post that Android 14, also made the app upgrade process easier with more controls for third-party app stores via an API.
This development at the time Google lost its antitrust battle with Epic. Google plans to appeal the verdict and reiterated in today’s blog post that it “didn’t recognize the choice and competition that our platforms enable” but the case is “far from over.”
The trial unearthed Google’s deals with companies like Spotify, which paid no commission on Play Store for in-app purchases.
The Epic v Google, trial showed that the search company knows that a 4% discount offered through the user choice billing is not enough for developers to switch to other operators. Because developers will also need to pay fees to those processors, which might be more than the 4% Google is offering.
In reaction to Google’s settlement with the State Attorney General, Corie Wright, Vice President of Public Policy at Epic Games said that this payment will bring “no true relief” to consumers.
“Consumers will continue to overpay for digital goods as a result of Google’s imposition of supracompetitive 30% fees for Google Play Billing or 26% junk fees on top of payments Google isn’t involved in processing. Developers will also continue to be restricted in how they distribute their apps, and developers who choose to use a third-party payment option will be forced to use Google’s deceptively labeled “user choice billing” system rather than having creative freedom over the design of their payment systems,” Wright said in a statement.
Epic added in a blog post that in the next phase of the case with Google, the games company will hunt for “meaningful remedies to truly open up the Android ecosystem.” Fonte: A

Wolverine part of massive Insomniac Games leak after ransomware deadline passes

Footage of Insomniac’s upcoming Wolverine game has started widely circulating on X after hackers published troves of internal data from its developer. Cyber Daily reports that a total of 1.67 terabytes of data comprising over 1.3 million files has been released by the Ryhsida ransomware gang, which announced that it had stolen the data in a hack on December 12th. At the time, the group announced an auction price for the data starting at 50 bitcoins, roughly $2 million, and a seven day deadline to pay.Alongside level design and character materials from Wolverine, the leak seemingly includes several internal company presentations containing details on unannounced Insomniac and Sony games, screenshots of internal spreadsheets, and details on development and marketing budgets. Wolverine is reportedly named as the first in a trilogy of planned X-Men titles, with the second and third games due for release before the end of 2029 and 2033 respectively, according to Cyber Daily. There’s also mention of a third Spider-Man game, a game based on Venom, and a new entry in the Ratchet and Clank franchise.Sony did not immediately respond to The Verge’s request for comment on the release of the hacked materials. When Ryhsida announced the hack last week, Sony said it was investigating, adding that it had “no reason to believe that any other SIE or Sony divisions have been impacted.” The company has also been impacted by the MOVEit cyberattacks this year. In October Bleeping Computer reported that Sony Interactive Entertainment had notified around 6,800 current and former employees of a breach that exposed personal information. The group behind that attack was separate from the latest Insomniac hack; ransomware group Cl0p claimed responsibility in June. Sony’s film division, Sony Pictures, was the target of a major hack almost a decade ago in 2014, in which personal information about employees and internal emails was leaked publicly in an attack believed to be sponsored by the North Korean government.Rhysida was the subject of a cybersecurity alert published last month that was co-authored by the US Department of Justice and Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency. The alert noted that Rhysida has been seen to use VPNs to connect to internal company systems from the outside, often using compromised credentials with “organizations lacking MFA enabled by default.”When contacted by Cyber Daily, a representative from Rhysida said that its attack was motivated by money. “We knew that developers making games like this would be an easy target,” they said.

Documentos importantes no meio do vazamento
