It hurts.
✨
If you are abroad, whether working, studying or beginning a life project, you might have experienced that. Missing people we love, places we used to go, anything we consider home.
The good news is that it doesn't last long. But while we're feeling it, it looks like forever. 😞
I'm going to tell you how to overcome homesickness, but first, let's take a look at some symptoms (can you recognize any of them?):
👉🏻 Anxiety;
👉🏻 Isolation;
👉🏻 Loneliness;
👉🏻 Low self-esteem;
👉🏻 Depressive thoughts;
👉🏻 Sadness for no reason;
👉🏻 Lack of motivation;
👉🏻 Mood swings.
That reflects in our body like:
😣 Muscular cramps;
🤮 Vomiting;
🤢 Nausea;
🤯 Headache;
😖 Stomach ulcer;
😩 Diarrhea;
😕 Lack of appetite;
🥴 Disturbed sleep.
How to deal with that?
👨🏻👩🏽👳🏿♀️👱🏼♀️Look for the company of others (group activities, going out with a neighbour, volunteering etc.);
💻 Use 21st-century technology and make a video call with your family and friends (it helps a lot!);
🍲 Eat food that reminds you of home, and if you enjoy cooking, make your favourite comfort dish;
🛤 Explore the neighbourhood, visit new places;
🤸🏼♀️ Exercise - go for a walk, yoga, cycling, anything that makes you move and generate a relaxed state of mind;
🧘🏼♀️ Meditate - it will help ease the symptoms of melancholy and control your feelings;
🙏🏻 Gratitude - shift your focus, write down everything you appreciate in your new life. Be grateful for everything you have accomplished so far;
🌟 And the most important: IT WILL PASS, OK?
