𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭 ‍🎨🧡💛𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤-

Hannu Sorto, also known by the artist name 'Don Maestro', is a diverse self-taught visual artist hailing from the capital city, Gaborone. The fine arts has always been a passionate interest of his from an early age, and he is looking to push this more professionally, as well as internationally.

Notably, Hannu recently attained a certificate in a Draw and Paint course under Young Africa Botswana's America on the Move Program, as well as represented Botswana as one of 220 international artists in a non-profit solar energy project by Little Sun.

He works with a variety of mixed media, but primarily focuses on working with ink, graphite pencil and charcoal. Scribble drawing and pointillism being his speciality. He quotes these techniques to be "a beautiful form of controlled chaos". He has created many art pieces over the past years, and is said to be still learning and improving his skills to grow beyond its limits.

STATEMENT

“A good art work is the one personal to the viewer; I believe every artist should be allowed to express themselves in their own way. My paintings are realistic and relief like, I paint scenes that are familiar to me, part of everyday life is my inspiration.’’

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Motoloki grew up in the rural village (Goo Tau. As a young boy, he realized that he could draw most of the things better than his peers. He schooled in Goo-Tau, went to Moeng College for his Cambridge. He never had any formal training in art. He is mostly self-taught artist and has been practicing art since his Cambridge in 2001.Worked for (paint company) where he worked as machinist, tinter, laboratory tester and sales clerk before. Now doing art fulltime.
