*Qurbani 2026 Update – Foot & Mouth Disease*

Last week the BMA met with the Assistant Minister of Lands & Agriculture, Hon. Edwin Dikoloti. He confirmed the unfortunate spread of Foot & Mouth Disease (FMD) across Botswana.

The BMA was informed as by law of Botswana, *no cattle, sheep, or goats etc can be moved or slaughtered* in the affected areas.

Because animals cannot be moved or slaughtered, *we will not be able to do Qurbani in Botswana this Eid ul-Adha*, unless the situation changes.

If Qurbani is wajib on you, please *arrange it in another country.* This way your obligation is still fulfilled.

Please *do not break government rules* on animal movement. We are blessed to practice our Deen freely in Botswana. Our behavior should show Islam in the best light.

We make dua that Allah Ta’ala removes this difficulty, restores health to the land, and allows us to do our Qurbani here again next year. *Ameen.*
