President Duma Boko says government is determined to finalise a deal to take control of De Beers by the end of October.

The move would mark a historic shift in ownership of the world’s most iconic diamond producer, as Botswana seeks greater economic sovereignty amid financial strain.

Anglo American which currently owns 85% of De Beers, has signaled its intent to sell as part of a global restructuring. Botswana already holds a 15% stake and is now pushing for majority control.
Boko said discussions with several financing partners, including Oman’s sovereign wealth fund, to lift government shareholding above 50%
