ππ‘ How to Measure a Fuel Injector's Resistance β In 4 Easy Steps! π§π
Ever wondered what the resistance of a fuel injector means and why it matters? π€
π The resistance (measured in ohms Ξ©) is the value that the internal coil presents to the electrical current. When energized, this coil creates a magnetic field that opens a valve or lifts a needle to spray fuel π¨π₯
β οΈ If this resistance is too high or too low, the injector can:
Fail to inject fuel properly π«
Stay permanently open or closed β
Or even damage the ECU π₯π»
π οΈ How to Check Injector Resistance:

1. Disconnect the Injector Turn off the engine, disconnect the battery π, and wait 10 minutes. Then unplug the injector connector. This prevents short circuits and inaccurate readings.

2. Set Your Multimeter to Ohms (Ξ©) Switch to the resistance scale. Make sure the probes are clean and test continuity first to ensure your meter is working properly. π

3. Measure the Resistance Touch one probe to each pin of the injector (order doesnβt matter). Note the value shown on the screen. π

4. Interpret the Result Compare your reading with the specs in the service manual π.
Typical ranges:
πΈ Low impedance: ~2β4 Ξ©
πΉ High impedance: ~12β16 Ξ©
β οΈ If you see:
< 1 ohm β‘οΈ possible shorted coil
Infinity / no reading β‘οΈ open coil
In both cases, the injector should be replaced π§―
