Gaborone top 10!

We are proud to present the Top 10 Project124 Entrepreneurship Program finalists. These guys have demonstrated that they have a smart ideas, they worked and polished their business models and demonstrated that they have an enterprising mentality, a will to execute and, most importantly, a desire to learn and grow.

In one excercise, they were given P20 to test how enterprising they can be in 72 hours and some returned with cash of up to P600. In Phikwe, they were given a sales and marketing exercise where they moved around the Phikwe Town Centre trying to sell the products given to them. A positive thing about this exercise was it saw them build enough confidence to lure total strangers, market their product to them and close a sale!

We have 3 more top 10’s to pick from other regions and each of them will be tasked with convincing us that they are the nation’s best and we should invest our money in them and their business.

We are now officially Partners with "Mazaza Eyewear" in South Africa. Mazaza Eyewear is one of the few black-owned Eyewear brands that is competing with the big guys in South Africa's optical industry, your Torga, Specsavers franchise etc. It's predominantly selling and appealing to people in the Kasi who form a very large chunk of the market. We are proud to have made this move as it allows us to 1. Move to another spot in the value chain. 2. Understand the logistics and distribution channels at a larger scale as we aspire to grow the business into Africa and beyond. Mazaza will only be selling in South Africa because of diplomacy and interests of other partners in the game. Re pusha mazaza gents and its an exciting time for Khumo Horizons...

This project has to be the most exciting project our company has financed this year. We invested in the person that is Kagiso Madibana, a chevening alumni driven by destiny, she will be up Kilimanjaro in about 2weeks all for the cause of the girl child, she founded the Nayang Association that intends to put shoes on the feet of as many young children in the country as possible and will be doing a nationwide book and inspiration tour very soon.
