BoFINET SECURES 1Tbps INTERNATIONAL CAPACITY UPGRADE

Botswana Fibre Networks (BoFiNet) has signed a long-term international capacity lease with a strategic partner in South Africa, increasing its available international capacity through the Ramatlabama and Pioneer Gate borders from 300Gbps to 1Tbps. This landmark agreement marks a significant milestone in Botswana's digital evolution and reinforces BoFiNet's commitment to delivering world-class, reliable, and scalable connectivity to the nation and the region.

The capacity upgrade is a strategic investment to ensure that BoFiNet maintains quality of service that meets international standards; and enhances redundancy in the network to ensure uninterrupted connectivity for the country. As the backbone of the nation's digital infrastructure, BoFiNet plays a critical role in enabling seamless connectivity for the country, ensuring that Botswana remains competitive in an increasingly digital global economy.

STANDARD BANK DELIVERS ROBUST HALF-YEAR HEADLINE EARNINGS OF R26.1 BILLION

The Standard Bank Group delivered a solid performance for the six months ended 30 June 2026, reporting record headline earnings of R26.1 billion, up 10% period-on-period, and a higher return on equity (ROE) of 19.8%. This is comfortably within the Group's 2028 ROE target range of 18% to 22%.

The Group remains focused on delivering client-led growth supported by disciplined capital allocation and robust risk management. This, together with continued investment in people, technology and capabilities, provides the framework for achieving the medium-term earnings growth and return targets.
The Group's banking businesses reported solid balance sheet growth, robust increases in fees and trading income, lower credit impairment charges and well-managed costs. The Insurance & Asset Management business delivered continued strong earnings growth and improved returns.

Presenting on the financial performance, Group CEO Sim Tshabalala highlighted that; “Standard Bank delivered a strong performance in the first half of 2026. Strong client-led growth in non-interest revenue, together with disciplined cost and credit management, supported growth in headline earnings and our highest return on equity under the Basel III capital framework."

TRANSITION AT OLD MUTUAL BOTSWANA: PRISCILLAH NDADI RESIGNS AS GROUP CEO

Old Mutual Botswana on 9 July 2026, announced the reignation of the Group CEO, Priscillah Ndadi in a quest to pursue other professional interests of her career, effective 1 July 2026 with her tenure ending on 30 September 2026.

Priscillah, who was appointed in February 2025, has led Old Mutual Botswana through an important period of business renewal, disciplined ex*****on, and strategic alignment.
The Board has appointed Ricardo Sardien as Interim Group CEO with immediate effect.

Ricardo brings extensive operational and financial experience, having previously served as both Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer. The process to appoint a permanent Group CEO will commence shortly, and an announcement will be made upon conclusion.

Commenting on her transition, Priscillah said: “It has been a privilege to serve Old Mutual Botswana and work with such a talented, committed team. I am proud of the progress we have made together and remain confident that the business is well positioned for future growth and success.
