Healthcare doesn’t stop at Amherstburg’s borders. 💙

In this month’s Closer to Home business profile, we’re getting to know the Erie Shores Health Foundation and the role it plays in supporting Erie Shores HealthCare and The Hospice.

Community fundraising helps provide the equipment, technology, renovations and patient spaces that keep care moving forward. The Foundation is also working toward future priorities, including replacing the hospital’s aging CT scanner.

And supporting local healthcare doesn’t have to mean making a major donation. A one-time contribution, a monthly donation, attending an event, volunteering, or helping organize a fundraiser can all become part of the community support that keeps local healthcare moving forward.

Meet the McGuires, a family whose roots on Pike Road stretch back more than 175 years.

What began with Orval McGuire’s passion for collecting tractors grew into something much bigger. Today, the family’s collection includes vintage machinery, blacksmith tools, railway lanterns, household artifacts, and countless pieces of agricultural history. But behind every object is a story, and behind the collection is a family committed to keeping those stories alive.

The McGuires’ museum is not simply a place filled with old things. It’s a way of remembering where their family came from, how farming has changed, and what they hope to pass on to the next generation.
