Made a pilgrimage to Ingalls Homestead in Travel South Dakota, where the family spent six years on this quarter section. As the for the Netflix US adaptation and a big fan of all things Little House on the Prairie® it was high time I made the trip.

If you come across some wild plums this season, opt for savoury instead of sweet. Hunter Angler Gardener Cook’s Chinese Wild Plum Sauce is sooooo delicious that I was scarfing it down by the spoonful. It features shallots, garlic, ginger and a bunch of aromatic spices— spicy, savoury and a little sweet. 

Wild plums have a big pit and a bitter skin so I roasted them for 10 minutes and then put them through a ricer to extract the juice and pulp.
