It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to a survivor of the 1959 Escuminac Disaster. His journey was surely marked by resilience and unwavering strength. Our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones!
In Loving memory of Alexander (Sandy) Taylor
1936 – 2023
Alexander (Sandy) Perley Taylor of Bay du Vin, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on January 7, 2024, at the age of 87.
Sandy was born in Bay du Vin, NB, on November 19, 1936. He was a widower since 2018 and a survivor of the 1959 Escuminac disaster and was widely known for his passion for playing cards. He attended St. Michael’s By the Sea Roman Catholic Church.
He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Dale (Steeves) Taylor (1944-2018), and his eldest son, Bruce Taylor (1964-2000).
He will be greatly missed by his five children: Brent Taylor, Sherry Taylor, Timmy Taylor, Randy Taylor, and Shayne Taylor; ten grandchildren: Joshua Taylor, Corey Taylor, Jewelya Maheux-Taylor, Kevin Taylor, Jyzzarie Taylor, Savannah Taylor, Ashton Taylor, Tiffany Andal, Brayden Taylor, Jordan Taylor; and one great-grand-child, Krystal Maheux-Taylor; and his best friend, Chips.
Visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, NB, on Tuesday evening only, January 9, 2024, from 7-9 PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Michael’s By the Sea Roman Catholic Church, 7321 Route 117, Bay du Vin, NB, on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at 11 AM with The Reverend Father Dan Bastarache as Celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Michael’s By the Sea Cemetery later in the spring.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Michael’s By the Sea Church or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
