Today is the day.

After months of planning, filming, editing, and carrying these stories with care, I'm incredibly excited to share the very first episode of The 2% Podcast, hosted by myself and my amazing friend, Margie.

This podcast was created to make space for honest conversations about addiction and recovery. Behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a story worth hearing. It has been an absolute privilege to sit across from people who chose vulnerability over silence and trusted us with some of the most difficult chapters of their lives.

None of this would have been possible without the generous support of TELUS STORYHIVE. Their belief in local creators and community-driven storytelling made this project a reality, and I couldn't be more grateful. Thank you for investing in stories that matter.

This is only the beginning.

Over the coming days, we'll be releasing more episodes, each one featuring a different perspective on recovery, resilience, and hope. I hope you'll follow along, listen with an open heart, and share these conversations with someone who may need them.

You never know whose life a story might touch.

Thank you for being here πŸ’š

Anyone else get slightly overconfident in last week's sunshine πŸ™ˆβ˜€οΈ

Apparently, SPF and I had a communication breakdown...

Moments after this photo, I slathered myself in lotion, wrapped my burns in plastic wrap (which felt equal parts spa treatment and leftover sandwich), and hoped for the best. So far, no peeling 🀞🏼

With another hot week ahead, consider this your friendly reminder to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and don't wait until you're glowing like a lobster to head inside πŸ˜…

Yours truly;

I'm sitting here putting the finishing touches on a project I'm incredibly proud of, after spending time with people who left a lasting impression on me.

A few weeks ago, I headed north to Big Lakes County to highlight the incredible firefighters serving their communities.

I didn't expect to be moved to tears during the interviews. And I certainly didn't expect to find myself crying again almost every time I've sat down to edit the footage.

These are the stories that matter to me.

The stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. The stories that remind us there are still so much good in the world. The stories that shine a light on the everyday men and women who quietly show up for their communities, expecting nothing in return.

This is why I do what I do ❀️

Co****le tournaments, secret concerts, and a boot scootin' good time 🀠 Stampede 2026 did not disappoint!

A little over a year ago, I boldly declared, "You couldn't pay me to go to Stampede."

And then...I promptly got paid to go to Stampede 2025 and had to eat my words...along with copious amounts of midway mini donuts πŸ™ƒ

Turns out, what I really love is capturing the energy of live events from behind the lens. The excitement is contagious. It doesn't take long before I'm bobbing along to country music while weaving through the crowds with my camera in hand.

And here's your next party trick: people will absolutely part like the Red Sea for someone carrying a DSLR 😎 I felt like a bit of a rockstar all weekend 🀟🏼

It can be easy to forget why we do what we do.

I was reminded that my best work happens when I help others remember why they do what they do. In a way, that's the heart of storytelling. Uncovering the purpose, passion, and humanity behind the work people dedicate themselves to every day.

Over the past few days, I had the honour of visiting Big Lakes County to capture the work being done by its rural fire departments.

What I learned is that the backbone of many rural fire departments is made up of volunteers, often unpaid, underappreciated community members who see a need and choose to step forward. Through interviews, I heard story after story of people who had once experienced tragedy firsthand and were forever impacted by the firefighters who showed up when they needed help most.

We don't often think about the first responders who rush toward danger when the rest of us are running away from it. But after spending time with the firefighters of Big Lakes County, I won't forget them.

I met a woman who couldn't have weighed more than 110 pounds, yet confidently gears up and heads out alongside people three times her size. I met a gentleman in his seventies who had seen too many neighbours lose everything to fire to sit idly by. I met a young man looking for a future who is now training to become a dispatcher in Edmonton. I met a Deputy Fire Chief with a vision of bringing rural departments together in unity and service, who also happens to be a petite woman proving that leadership comes in all forms.

From young to old, large to small, quiet to outspoken, they come together with a shared purpose: protecting their communities.

What struck me most was the sense of family. People from different backgrounds, experiences, and walks of life calling one another brothers, sisters, and teammates.

Thank you to the firefighters and volunteers who welcomed me into your halls, shared your stories, and reminded me why this work matters.

If you're looking for ways to get involved in your community, think of your local fire department πŸ”₯
