Delayed Opening Today

Due to getting home much later than expected last night, along with a few other unexpected commitments, I've decided to take the morning off to catch up.

The office will be open today starting at 1:00 PM.

Temporary Schedule Update

Just a quick notice regarding our hours over the next couple of days.

Tomorrow, July 21, we will have a delayed opening as I will be returning from Clarenville in the morning. I will open as soon as I arrive back at the shop and appreciate your patience during the delay.

We will also be closed on Wednesday, July 22, while I travel to St. John's for a scheduled doctor's appointment. Regular business hours will resume following the appointment.

Prototype #1 of The Monthly Yarn Stand! 📰⚓
I've been working on a prototype display stand for The Monthly Yarn, and I'd love to get some feedback from local business owners and community members.

The idea is simple: a small, attractive stand that could sit on a counter or near an entrance, holding free copies of The Monthly Yarn for customers to pick up while they browse, wait for an order, or enjoy a coffee.

My goal with The Monthly Yarn is to create a quick monthly read filled with: ✅ Local news and happenings
✅ Community announcements
✅ Upcoming events
✅ Spotlights on local people, groups, and businesses
✅ Affordable advertising opportunities for local businesses
✅ A little fun with trivia, puzzles, or community features

The big question:

Looking for some honest feedback from local businesses, organizations, and community members!

As many of you know, I've been tossing around the idea of launching The Monthly Yarn — a free monthly community paper featuring local news, events, community stories, birthdays, artist spotlights, trivia, and more.

To help cover printing and production costs, the plan would be to offer affordable advertising space throughout the paper. Based on the current layout, I'm considering the following rates:

📢 Small Ad: $15/month
📢 Medium Ad: $20/month
📢 Large Ad: $30/month

The goal isn't to make advertising expensive—it's to create something affordable that local businesses, community groups, fundraisers, and events can actually use while helping keep a local publication going.

Do these prices seem reasonable?

I'd love to hear:
✅ Would you consider advertising at these rates?
✅ Are the prices too high, too low, or about right?
✅ Is there anything you'd like to see included in a monthly community paper?

📰 I'd Love Some Community Feedback! 📰

As you know, I've been working on the idea of a free monthly community publication called The Monthly Yarn.

The goal isn't to create another advertising flyer. The goal is to create something people actually want to pick up and read—a place where local businesses, organizations, events, artists, and community members can share what's happening around Bonavista and the surrounding area.

Some ideas being considered include:

🎨 Artist of the Month
🏢 Business Spotlight
📅 Community Event Listings
🏆 Community Champion Features
📖 Local History Corner
🐾 Pet of the Month
🎂 Birthdays & Anniversaries
🧩 Trivia, Puzzles & Crosswords
📢 Community Announcements
🏒 Local Sports Updates

The idea is that some of these featured sections could be sponsored or purchased by businesses, organizations, artists, or individuals who would like to share their story, promote an event, or highlight what they do.

For example:
• An Artist of the Month feature could showcase a local creator and their work.
• A Business Spotlight could tell the story behind a local business.
• Community groups could promote upcoming events and fundraisers.
• Residents could submit announcements, milestones, and local stories.

I'm currently considering affordable pricing in the $10-$30 range depending on the type and size of the feature, but before moving forward I'd genuinely like to hear what people think.

The layouts are still being worked on and nothing is finalized yet. Right now I'm simply looking for feedback to see if this is something the community would enjoy and support.

Today is one of those days that makes me realize all over again how much I love what I do.

Taking an idea from someone's head, bringing it to life, and then producing it into something tangible that others get to see is such an incredible feeling.

Every sign, shirt, decal, logo, and project starts as just an idea. Being trusted to help make those ideas a reality is something I'll never take for granted.

Thank you to everyone who supports my little shop and lets me be a part of your projects. It truly means a lot. ❤️

Now... back to printing! :)
