Referrals are great. Depending on them is risky.

You can’t forecast growth from “hopefully someone sends us a customer.” Build a system that consistently creates awareness, captures demand, follows up, and asks happy clients for referrals on purpose.

Referrals should strengthen your pipeline—not be the entire pipeline.

Google captures demand. Facebook creates it.

Google is powerful when people are actively searching for what you sell. Facebook is powerful when the right person needs to see the problem, possibility, or offer before they go looking.

The better platform depends on the market, offer, budget, and sales cycle—not somebody’s favourite ad channel.

Stop being afraid to put your price—or at least your minimum—out there.

If you don’t take projects under $30,000, say it. Clear pricing filters out the wrong work and helps the right buyer understand what quality costs.

And stop using “free” to make your offer sound valuable.

A qualified lead is not just someone ready to buy today.

They’ve given you real contact information, they match what you sell, and they have the financial ability to move forward—even if their timing isn’t immediate.

Define that clearly or your marketing and sales teams will argue about lead quality forever.

08/24/2026

You might not need more leads. You might need to stop wasting the ones you already have.

Slow response times, weak follow-up, unclear qualification, and no sales process can make a good lead source look broken.

Fix the leak before you spend more money filling the bucket.

08/24/2026

The cheapest lead can become the most expensive one.

If your team wastes hours chasing people who can’t buy, won’t answer, or were never a fit, the low cost per lead is hiding the real cost.

Measure qualified opportunities, proposals, sales, and gross profit—not just form fills.

08/24/2026

Pausing your ads every time you get busy creates the exact feast-or-famine cycle you’re trying to escape.

Marketing should build tomorrow’s pipeline while you deliver today’s work. Adjust the budget if needed, but don’t disappear and expect demand to be waiting when you come back.

08/24/2026

If you keep attracting tiny projects, look at what your marketing is asking for.

Cheap offers, vague messaging, and no published minimum will fill your pipeline with work you don’t want. Say who you’re for, show the level of work you do, and make the minimum investment clear.

Better positioning filters before your sales team has to.

Automation doesn’t have to sound robotic.

Use it for the repetitive part: fast responses, reminders, follow-up, and keeping opportunities from falling through the cracks. Then step in personally when someone engages.

The goal isn’t to remove the human. It’s to make sure the human conversation actually happens.

08/24/2026

Sometimes the campaign isn’t broken. The budget is too small to generate enough data or enough opportunities.

If one sale is worth thousands in gross profit, spending a few dollars a day and expecting predictable growth is unrealistic.

Build the budget backwards from the revenue target—not from what feels comfortable.
