Every year students of the BCIT: British Columbia Institute of Technology Grapchic Communications program have to complete a 2 week practicum within the print industry.
Though this year was harder than most due to Covid. We were still able to help each student gain some experience throughout our facility.

You may be asking yourself “what on earth is this?”
If not we’re going to answer the question anyway..... So ya!
This machine is a collator. It’s job is to marry multiple forms together so that the forms become a functional tool. In combining special paper we are able to create multi part forms that can transfer information through to one another just by writing on the top sheet. This technology is traditionally used for bill of ladings and or invoices for example.

Rolls on Rolls!
There are a lot of different types of print that you may not be aware of! These rolls are being used to print functional business forms. YES people do still use these functional forms on a daily basis.
Stay tuned as we will be highlighting the different processes to give you a bit of insight into the print world!

Print is definitely a trade with an art aspect! Our press operators have studied/worked on their craft for years!
