The key to creating great content that people want to read is actually something so simple.
Just literally be yourself. That's it. That's the key.
You know, I used to spend hours agonizing over my social posts, blog posts, or anything I would write, because I'd get so caught up worrying about what others might think of my writing, or worse - what they would think of me as a person.
And it didn't stop with my social posts. This kind of insecure behavior could be seen in most areas of my life; I was constantly trying to be exactly what everyone else wanted, and somewhere along the way forgot about what I wanted.
After years of trying to make everyone else happy (and making myself miserable doing so), I eventually ended up burnt out, depressed, and feeling like I didn't know who I was anymore.
Which is why I now focus less on being the person other people want me to be, or expect me to be. Instead, I just do whatever makes me happy. I don't hide my past anymore. I stand up for what I believe in. I will share my honest opinion - regardless if I think the other person may not agree, or might think differently of me for saying it.
And so far, that's been working pretty great.
I still have days where I am insecure and doubt myself, but instead of letting those thoughts overwhelm me I try to do something constructive, like going for a walk with my dog, reading a book, or sharing something like this (which I am totally freaked out to do, but am doing it anyways, because f**k it).
Because I finally have come to the conclusion that it doesn't really matter what other people think - and in fact, it's detrimental to your success to do so.
All you really need to do is just show up, and be real - and then do that, every single day. Keep doing that, and you're already ahead of like, 90% of the population. Keep doing that, and you'll make it.
