Not all nitrogen losses happen with dry urea. UAN is also vulnerable.

Once applied, the urea portion of UAN can be lost through ammonia volatilization, while the ammonium portion is converted to nitrate through nitrification, making it susceptible to leaching and denitrification under wet soil conditions.
