Sandbox Number Two is up! For this month's sandbox, I decided to go a bit and comic-booky with some bold colours, thick borders, and snappy animations. Today marks the launch of The Sandbox!

This is the page where I'll be playing around with some new techniques, some effects I've never tried before, or just tossing around some layout and design ideas that I think are nifty. Since it includes a lot of elements I've never tried before, things might not work right all the time, and that's okay - just let me know! One of the founding principles of Nifty Web Design is that I'm always trying to learn new things.

My first post is all about parallax, and how we can create whole environments on your website - check it out, and let me know what you think! And if you have any suggestions for what you'd like to see next, ask away!

New business alert! I’ve been working with for the past four months as they prepared to open their brand new gym in ! Performance Culture is a massive new fitness centre located just south of and they are opening their doors tomorrow! You can register for memberships, classes, and soon buy products all on their new site, as well as follow their , streams, and videos without ever leaving the website. One of the best things about building the site for Sarah Roa was learning a lot more about my amazing cousin. She is such a talented actress, and such an amazing person! (The pink and yellow headshots were also, coincidentally, done by my friend and PARK teammate, Allison Seto!)

We launched this site a couple of weeks ago, and it's already one of my favourites. Vancouver-based actor Sarah Roa asked me to build her first ever website, showcasing her full line of work, her acting reels, her resume, and all of the amazing press she's gotten! She wanted something fun and colourful, something to match her personality, and I think we really delivered.

Who doesn’t love a good romance novel? Building a new website for a romance novelist proved to be a unique challenge. Willow Sanders came to Nifty with an outdated website that only displayed two of her 20+ novels. Wanting to strengthen her brand, drive sales to a discerning audience, and to stand out from a tight market, Willow gave us free rein to develop the new site for her growing collection of work.

One of the most important elements of the site design for Willow Sanders was to display her novels in the right context - with several ongoing, overlapping series, we had to devise a creative and easy-to-navigate solution. We think we came up with the right solution.

Alternative Synergy The Company has interactive elements, strong Calls to Action, and embedded video to give an immersive experience for the website's users - not to mention, it looks so cool on mobile!

Working with Calgary based Branding agency Brandhouse – who provided overall strategic and creative direction, we rebuilt Alternative Synergy The Company, a New York based dance school and performance studio. The new site was rebuilt from the ground up to appropriately differentiate and showcase the performance dance company and dance school in a way that would visually set the company apart.

The new Nifty Web Design is here - it's been six months, I've done a ton of work, and it's time to make my website into something that reflects my business today. I've built sites for some pretty amazing people and companies, and have something pretty awesome that is going to debut really soon, so keep an eye out. A lot can change in half a year!
