story time -
Im ending the semester on a positive note:
I asked Alexa to play Classic Rock while I drink my coffee this morning, my Dad’s favourite music.
Anytime I’d be riding in the car with my Dad and a song came on the radio that he would start jamming out to, he’d always ask, “Courtney, who sings this song?” And most times I’d reply with, “I have no idea Dad, this music is too old for me.” He’d laugh and say, “Come on, this is a classic!” So I would guess a few artists that I was familiar with and usually I was wrong. But, he’d always tell me. He would add a memory like - “when this song came out, I remember it like it was yesterday. I was in this place at this time doing this..”
After all he was my age in the 70s and 80s, what a life that would have been.
And over time I did learn quite a few bands and songs that he loved, so that when he’d ask - I’d be able to name the song and the artist. The smile on his face would be priceless and he would turn it up and we’d start singing along together, dancing like goofs driving down the road to wherever we were going.
I miss you so much already, Dad. But, I know that you’ll always be with me, even though I can’t see you physically. I’ll keep your band t-shirts and save CJ92 on my radio presets as a reminder.
Always on my mind & Forever in my heart. xoxo
