While spending my 30 minutes a day connecting with others on Instagram, I find that many people do not seem to know how to start a conversation. Posting emojis or a two or a three word comment is not going to help you grow your social media.

First of all, let me say that there any many ways to engage your audience. You may also have some ideas that I have not even thought of.

One of the biggest pieces of advice that I can give you is to simply start a conversation. Talk to your audience as if you are talking to a friend who is right in front of you. After all, that’s what you are trying to do - make friends on your social media platforms.

When you are looking for ways to interact with your followers you might want to try:

1) Ending your posts with a question
2) Direct message (DMs) to build the friendship. DO NOT ask your audience to follow you or buy your product or service until you have established a great connection with them
3) Use stories,reels and lives to share information about content and yourself
4) Write a meaningful comment that shows you have read their post.
5) Engage with your followers
6) Engage in your previous posts
7)Engage with people you follow

I want to reiterate that you are having a conversation with these people. You need to add in your personality and do what feels right for you. Everyone is on their own business journey but you need to look at where you are and what works for you.
