Our goal when building brands for clients is to create a foundation that emotionally connects and compels action.

Recently, Shannon Larkins of Blackcoffee Brand Agency and I had the opportunity to differentiate a well-known local brand and leader in Calgary’s outplacement and HR market: Toombs Inc.

The Alberta economy, our workplaces, and the job market have changed and continue to change dramatically. Given this level of upheaval in our provincial marketplace, impact on careers, and new offerings by Toombs, the team asked themselves and their clients if their communication and identity reflected the firm they are today. The answer was no.

So they embarked on a strategic process to properly reflect a new decade.

Working on a wanderlust project with Shannon Larkins for The Luxury Travel Agency in the midst of a travel-restricted pandemic was a beautiful escape for the mind. See a few more creations from this rebranding exercise: logo, biz card, website. Looking forward to the day when we can visit these destinations.

Over this past year, I’ve been asked, “How’s business?”

Happily, I can report, it’s been busy.

Partnering with Blackcoffee Brand Agency, we’ve had the opportunity to work on projects that have been diverse, challenging and well, straight up fun. One of those involved rebranding a luxury travel agency fittingly named The Luxury Travel Agency.

This involved painstakingly reviewing some of the best travel photos we’ve seen (self-torture perhaps?). More on how we helped transform this brand in the next post, but to prepare you for that, enjoy two minutes and thirty seconds of a little bit of hope by Extra Gum: For When It’s Time. Dorian and Hayley Medlicott came to Blackcoffee's Shannon Larkins and yours truly in need of a brand that would tell the full story of their mountain lifestyle homebuilding business. The pair firmly believe that when it comes to building homes, business is personal. They know that while they are building luxurious homes and vacation retreats in the Canadian Rockies, they are also building lifelong relationships with the clients they serve.

What a year it's been. I'm sure I make the same promise to myself annually when it comes to more regular communication (do what I say not as I do). With 2020-21 being "a year" like no other, let's take a step back and review all that has come.
