10 years ago, when floodwaters hit Calgary, we were an agency only a few weeks old. Our small office, shut down like the rest of the city, was in Inglewood. We had received a call from the good people at the Calgary Stampede. Unsure how the story would end, we started on a journey of capturing the historic events unfolding around Stampede Park.

This video was written on notepads and napkins and paper towel in real time as we filmed the destruction and subsequent 2-week rebuild. Hell or High Water t-shirts were designed in a pick-up truck while driving from location to location, and in a few hours on the printing presses.

Soon it was an anthem for a city recovering. Hell or High Water shirts dressed the town and Stampede 2013 went ahead against all odds. The t-shirts raised over 2 million dollars for the Red Cross. And the Calgary Stampede became the symbolic heart and soul of a city’s resiliency.

It was one of our first jobs as an agency.
