The Campbell River Arts Alliance is a collective of passionate organizations dedicated to keeping arts, culture, and heritage thriving in our community. Join the City for weekly summertime performances and special events that will keep Spirit Square buzzing from June 4 to August 30, 2024. ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŒž

๐Ÿ“… Lunch in the Square will feature live music every Tuesday at noon, beginning on June 4, 2024, with Comox Valley bluegrass trio Whiskey Mayhem. The June lineup will also include Quadra-raised, Toronto-based fiddle virtuoso Jaron Freeman-Fox; new Campbell River resident and violinist Nadia Logist; and Cortes singer-songwriter Jemma & the Good Thing, joined by Kootenay singer-songwriter Robbie Bankes.

๐Ÿ“… The evening River Concerts series begins at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, with Big Band Night, which will feature nearly 40 local musicians from the Carihi Jazz Band and Strathcona Big Band. On June 19, the stage will transform into a runway for a downtown fashion show, hosted by Revival Vintage, and bilingual Indi-folk band Rosier, from Montreal, will headline on June 26.

๐Ÿ“… Spirit Square also plays host to community celebrations, including National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21, 2024, Campbell River Pride Festival on June 22, 2024, and Canada Day on June 30 and July 1, 2024. The Campbell River Farmers Market takes place every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. until the last Sunday in September.

Entertainment at Spirit Square continues throughout the summer. July and August performers will include a Vancouver Island MusicFest preview concert by New York City saxophonist and composer Stephanie Chou who merges Chinese folk music with American jazz, Indigenous reggae band Spiritual Warriors, music from Brazil and Spain by Tio Chorinho and Flavia Nascimento, and Melon Jimenez with Lara Wong, and Campbell River favourite Americana roots guitarist and songwriter Jeff Plankenhorn. The City will provide more details and reminders as the summer gets underway.

The City has brought music and concerts to Spirit Square for many years. This programming is delivered through the Highway 19 Concert Society. Lunch in the Square is sponsored by the Downtown BIA and River Concerts is sponsored by 99.7 The River.
