I’m so excited to share this with you all! I recently had the opportunity to have such a deep and meaningful conversation with Courtney Spaeth on her Goalpreneur podcast, and it’s out today.

We talked about branding through the lens of authenticity, and what it means to build a brand that actually reflects who you are, not just what you do.

We discussed how that kind of genuineness creates connection, and how the right people can find you more easily when you stop trying to follow someone else’s formula and start building from the inside out.

If you’re a coach on a mission, I know that you’ve poured everything into your business because you know the transformation you provide changes lives.

But what happens if the people who need you can’t find you? What if they’re scrolling right now, looking for exactly what you offer, but your brand isn’t reaching them?

Imagine this… your ideal client is sitting at their desk, frustrated and overwhelmed, desperately searching for a solution to their problem. They type into Google or scroll through social media, hoping to find someone who truly understands their struggle.

Then, they come across your page, but it doesn’t immediately speak to them. They don’t feel an instant connection, so they keep searching, still stuck in the same problem that you could have helped them solve.

If you’re building your brand around what’s popular right now, you’re basically signing yourself up for a rebrand every time the trends shift. And let’s be real...that’s expensive, exhausting, and totally unnecessary. 😵‍💫

UNPOPULAR OPINION INCOMING... 😬🤷🏼‍♀️

I get asked all the time if I can “just make a logo” or “just put together a brand board.” And the short answer? No.

Not because I don’t want to help, but because I believe that slapping together a logo and some pretty colours without a solid brand strategy is just throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping something sticks. 🍝🎯

The brands that stand out, last, and attract the right clients aren’t built on guesswork. They’re built on:

💖 A deep understanding of the business’s mission and values

👩‍🔬 Research into the industry, competitors, and ideal clients

📊 A strategy that ensures every piece of branding works together

If I agreed to design a one-off logo without that foundation, I’d be going against what I know is best for my clients - and that doesn’t sit right with me.

Transparency, honesty, and integrity matter to me. If I don’t believe something will truly serve you, I won’t sell it to you - even if it means turning business away (and I have, lol).

The only exception? If you’ve already done the deep brand strategy work and just need a refined update to an existing logo - then we can talk. 😉

Branding is SO MUCH MORE than a logo.

I had so much fun putting together this brand board for a girls' empowerment coaching business—which, fun fact, was actually my old coaching biz! 🤣

Back when I was coaching, I never fully developed the branding. At the time, I didn’t realize just how much of a job branding is on its own—I was so focused on coaching that I didn’t have the time (or brain space) to do both well.

So, I decided to go back and create the brand board it should have had—both as a fun creative exercise and as a case study! 💖

I’ll be sharing my full case study soon, where I’ll do a deep dive into why I chose these colours, fonts, and logo elements to create something not only beautiful but also deeply aligned with a business all about helping girls and their moms feel confident, empowered, and supported.

Have you ever come across a brand that left you totally confused?

I came across a post in a design group the other day where someone was asking for feedback on a logo they were creating for their new business. At first glance, I had no idea what kind of business it was. The fonts were hard to read, the styles clashed, and there was no clear alignment between the visuals and the brand’s purpose. It felt… confusing.

Here’s the problem: if your branding confuses people, they won’t stick around long enough to figure it out. A logo isn’t just something that looks good—it needs to clearly communicate who you are and what you do in an instant.

✅ Fonts should be legible and complement each other
✅ Colors should align with the brand’s personality
✅ The overall design should feel cohesive, not random

Branding that lacks consistency creates doubt instead of trust—and trust is what turns visitors into paying clients.

A friend and fellow entrepreneur of mine who I connected with recently really reignited the fire in me to help female entrepreneurs get their visual branding right - the first time!

We were discussing her experience in working with a brand designer herself and while she believes the woman is very talented, she missed the mark with her branding and now my friend is left with a visual brand identity that's not cohesive and congruent to her actual business. 😞

As she was going through the process, this designer (who I'm sure is awesome in her own right) made a big mistake.

The problem?

She created a visual brand identity around my friend's personal style and vibe, not her business'.

She used colours and fonts that my friend loved, but that didn't make sense for the business itself. Those colours, fonts, and overall vibe clash with what my friend sees as her business essence. And now she knows that some of her ideal clients may see her logo, content, and website and be confused as to whether it's right for them or not.

Sometimes someone's brand identity is them, but for my friend, that was not the case.

So, if you're working with a visual brand designer - or DIYing it on your own - MAKE SURE they (or you) are doing the research required to ensure your brand will be magnetic to your ideal clients.

You want your clients to feel a certain way when they come into contact with your content, and if you don't do the work of ensuring your colours, fonts, and logo are congruent with that, you're wasting time and money - and chancing that your ideal clients will just scroll on by without feeling drawn to you.
