A couple of weeks ago, when introducing our Fanshawe student to a parent, the parent told my Fanshawe student while pointing at me “you’ve got Gold right here”. This morning I received a message from a grandparent who said “My grandson goes to you and you are an inspiration “. While I don’t need these affirmations, they sure do help me feel good about myself and what I do! I don’t have parents in my life and never have so I often wonder if my biological parent’s would be proud of me if they knew me. I think they would! Thank you for the kind words! I don’t post pictures for advertising, I don’t “need “ more children for income, but I want more children if I could so more children could spend their entire days outside and have fun and be children! I want to post pictures so everyone can see that children can do anything outside! They can do all their learning outside!

We just had three deer in our baby tree’s! They stayed for a long time just walking and looking around! They went to the top of the pond and ate some leaves

A school or childcare setting should offer a space where children feel at home. Excepted, safe, happy. It shouldn’t just offer something for the child, it should become the child. The children should not only have a say in the space, they should be able to create most of it. The space should become the child! It should become familiar in their minds, their bodies and their memories not just their eyes. It shouldn’t be tidy and well organized for the adult eyes, it should be the way the children want it and left for them to carry on with what they are creating for the next day! It should be bright with sunshine, dark with clouds, smell
Like fresh air and nature, smell like rain, flowers, worms and soil. Not like cleaners, plug-ins or candles. It should feel like the suns warmth, the cold winter or a cool gentle breeze, unpredictable feeling of rocks, sand, dirt, soft grass under their feet not the predictable hard floor or soft carpet. It should be loud with children’s running and jumping feet, loud with ideas and inquiries, loud with squeals of delight, loud with laughter or screams with the sight of a spider, snake, or other creatures that happen by, not shushed and sit down. The indoors should only be available for safety!
