Written by Edmonton writer Helen Metella and illustrated by Hannah Kate Miller, Marika and the Auction was released this month by Your Nickel's Worth Publishing of Regina. Inspired by Metella's 86-year-old mother, this is a picture book especially for people with dementia and the first in the Storybooks For Seniors series. The concept is wonderful. The stories amuse and potentially trigger memories. Most of all, they help visitors and caregivers start and sustain dialogue with their loved ones.
