Bangel PR had all the Edmonton media out today, to tour them through the classrooms, resource rooms and closets at the EMCN: Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers language center, that is overflowing with donations. The Edmonton Mennonite Center for Newcomers shared their desperate need for a permanent no cost or low cost donation center to provide household and personal items not just for refugees and newcomers but to anyone starting over. The Mennonite Center for Newcomers started collecting donations when the Edmonton Emergency Relief Services Society closed in August leaving a huge service hole for all social service organizations in our city. With covid restrictions lifting, the center will now need these classroom spaces come the fall to teach ESL. Today it welcomed in the and is calling on municipal and provincial governments to help find a space and funding to create a permanent donation center with wrap around services to better support the influx of immigrants coming from Ukraine, Afghanistan and countries all over the world.

Food prices are going up - and our local Edmonton Grocery Run Program at the Multicultural Health Brokers Cooperative is struggling to feed the 3600 newcomer and immigrant families that rely on their hamper program. Food banks and hamper programs are preparing for increased demand, after the annual Canada's Food Price Report warns 2022 could see the highest hikes in grocery prices in more than a decade.

Join our mission to save the Grocery Run Food Hamper program. We're on a mission to raise 150k by end of December to keep the program's doors open.

Yesterday we were joined by Mayor Amarjeet Sohi and all the Edmonton media as we launched the Corporate Challenge to the save the Grocery Run. The food hamper program provides healthy fresh vegetables and ethnic pantry staples to newcomer and refugee families in our city living in poverty.

For just 250 dollars the program can feed a family weekly for a whole year.

The program has seen its demand increase from 75 to 600 families since COVID at a time when the program's funding has ended and food prices have increased. That's 3600 people, 50 percent are children.

If the Grocery Run doesn't raise 150k by the end of December, the program will close.

So if you're looking for a charity to support please consider the Grocery Run!

We provided a little media relations power to the commercial real estate industry in this morning. The .edmonton Commercial Real Estate Development Association asked us to help share some good news when it comes to commercial real estate trends happening in the city. Of all the sectors industrial is leading the way but office and retail spaces are making gains as well. It's good news for our city! Thanks to for always bringing us onboard and to all the for coming out this morning. I was also thrilled to get a first hand look at the new HSBC building by - all the digital artwork on the ceiling, giant lobby spaces, technology, boardroom spaces and incredible workout gym is beautiful! Anyone who gets to work in that building is definitely lucky!

Guess what? There's going to be a Fringe event! Live and in person theatre on a stage with an audience! Today we launched - "Together we Fringe", a Fringe Theatre event! We had a full media showing and everyone was pretty pumped to cover a launch event with performers! I can't wait to get back on the fringe grounds with our Fringe peeps to do what we do in August! Yes there will be beer, and green onion cakes....and laughter. Haven't we missed all that?! It'll feel so good. Tickets on sale August 4th. They'll sell out fast so get ready!

Hitting the front page of the newspaper never gets old for Canterbury Foundation who is leading the way in providing the best of care for our elderly.

Thank you to Elise Stolte of the Edmonton Journal
for diving deep into the senior vaccination story and interviewing Wendy King, Executive Director of Canterbury and one of our Canterbury's families, for this piece. We hope that supportive living sites will be added to the first phase of vaccine rollout when more vaccine arrives, so all seniors in congregate living, regardless of how their care is funded, receive vaccines first.

Over the past year, we've taken on the huge job of communicating all things COVID to the over 270 seniors, staff and residents who call Canterbury Foundation home. We've managed both external, internal, and crisis communications. Canterbury is a not-for-profit seniors care centre in West-Edmonton, and because it is not a publicly-funded care home, it has been left off the list of seniors care centres receiving the first phase of COVID vaccine roll-outs. The decision to only vaccine publicly-funded long term care for phase 1, means 20,000 seniors will not be vaccinated in phase 1. This week we engaged Edmonton media to try to educate on the issue and fight for all seniors regardless of what care provider they have chosen. Take a look. Global News Edmonton
