Lark Artisan Supply has launched its holiday lineup based on our green friend who learned to open his heart.

We wanted to get the essence without being too cartoonish. This is inspired by the Grinch’s Lair.

It took several pieces to execute what I wanted, but it was worth it.

Real sherbet wasn’t cooperating, so I took it “old school” and made an artificial frozen scoop with some Crisco, icing sugar and colouring.

The Mean One
Smells like: High-altitude cynicism. It’s a sharp, neon-green sting of frozen citrus and alpine needles melting into a dark, smoky lair of toasted marshmallow.
Top Notes: Lime Sherbet, Lemon Zest, Eucalyptus, Frozen Neroli.
Middle Notes: Peppermint, Siberian Fir, Pine, Rosemary.
Base Notes: Smoked Wood, Marshmallow, Dark Amber, Musk.

Lark Artisan Supply has launched its holiday lineup based on our green friend who learned to open his heart and some quirky characters who helped him do so.

The Suess-ness of it all is right up my alley.

Starting with “Cindy, Who?”, I made fun little trees with cedar and wire and shaped and froze vanilla beans into Whoville shapes, just held together by some toothpicks which were later photoshopped out.

The tonka beans are holiday ornament hangers, hot glue and some wire.

Details like an unexpected branch from our apple tree adds to the surrealism.

I love trying to figure out how to get the essence of character without being cartoonish.

Smells like: Holiday maximalism. Like like crisp, sub-zero mountain air colliding with a warm bakery.
Top Notes: Crushed Mint, Bergamot, Crisp Apple.
Middle Notes: Cinnamon Bark, Brown Sugar, Nutmeg.
Base Notes: Vanilla Bean, White Cocoa, Cedarwood, Tonka Bean.

These summer days are reminding me of a recent fragrance shot I did for Your Favourite Fragrance Oil Supplier

Not all images have smoke, rain, fire, steam, splashes and drips (although if I have a chance to add those elements, I am compelled!)

Sometimes the story is told in softness. Some of it might not even be consciously noticed by the viewer-like the gentle pale yellow light sweeping into the hanging linen. Barely noticeable to the eye but felt by the soul.

This is my passion. To tell stories through imagery. And to do it in a way that speaks without words.
