September 30th is Orange Shirt Day. 🧡

As a local business, we believe it's important to help amplify the message of Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It’s a time to honor the children who never returned from residential schools, the survivors, and their families.

We currently have "Every Child Matters" pins and stickers available in-store at the Alberta Flag Shop. These are a simple but meaningful way to show your support, start conversations, and keep the message visible in our community.

September 30th is Orange Shirt Day. 🧡

As a local business here in Edmonton, we think it's important to pause and talk about what this day actually means. Orange Shirt Day, also known as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, honors the Indigenous children who never came home from residential schools, alongside the survivors, their families, and their communities.

"Every Child Matters" isn't just a phrase. It’s a reminder for all of us to listen, learn, and acknowledge the lasting impacts of that history so we can move forward together.

Whether you’re wearing an orange shirt, flying an Every Child Matters flag, or just taking some time to read up and reflect, we encourage everyone in our community to get involved and show support this month.

Quick one for ya — how much do you actually know about the Alberta flag?

The blue represents the sky and the mountains/foothills to the west. The gold band along the bottom is for the prairie wheat fields the province is known for. And that shield in the middle isn't random either — it's Alberta's official coat of arms, showing off the Rockies, foothills, and prairies all in one crest.

Been flying one on your house/truck/shop for years and never actually knew the story behind it? You're not alone. Drop a comment and let us know what you thought it meant before today.
