Here we are, our fourteenth and final day of celebrating women who

Meet Sarah. Sarah is my best friend and the most incredible human being I know. Sarah is too good for me but she loves me anyway and I am so grateful for that. I could say a lot about her but I'll pick the top 3 things I admire most.

1) GIRL GETS IT DONE
With a husband who works away most of the time, Sarah manages to work full time, raise a sweet little boy, feed everyone, and DIY, like, everything. Like her new deck? Thanks, she built that HERSELF. Kitchen renos look great eh? Thanks, she did it HERSELF. She's always doing, fixing, working, building, then she'll laugh and tell me how lazy she is as I eat cheese on my couch and hit "Play Next Episode" on Selling Sunset.

2) GIRL KEEPS IT REAL
Sarah has no BS in her, and if her mouth doesn't say it, her face will. So when she tells me something, I believe it, I believe her more than almost anyone on this planet. She's my beacon for a lot of things and I rely on her more than she knows. She's not caught up in the "If it's perfect on Instagram, it's perfect in real life" cycle (she doesn't even have Instagram), and she's not trying to impress anyone. And that's what makes her so completely impressive. That's why I, and so many others, love being around her. Because when someone is so authentic, everyone else feels permission to be authentic too. It's a super power she doesn't know she has.

3) GIRL IS FUNNY AS HECK
Humour is an underrated and undervalued quality in women, but it's something I'm very drawn to. And let me tell you, Sarah keeps me laughing. We all know her facebook meme game is strong, but in person, her hilarious observations of the world and the people in it, and her absolutely random taste in tv shows, make her one of the funniest people I know.

Sarah, you are an amazing mom, a love-giver, a truth seeker, the anchor to my ship, the friend everyone deserves, and beautiful inside and out. For all of this and more, you're a Woman Who Wows me.

It's day thirteen of celebrating women who and I'll be so sad for this series to end, because it's so much fun recognizing incredible women like this one right here.

Meet Danielle. She's a whole bunch of things that make her outstanding, but she says just enough swear words to keep her down to earth.

Danielle is a three-job-holding mom of two, a long time military wife, and one of the most beautifully creative people I have ever worked with. She's my go-to graphic designer at Susan Fillmore Marketing, and the first choice for a number of other organizations.

In the past few years, Danielle has created billboards, signs, murals, postcards, social media graphics and more for me that have left me speechless. But her talents don't end at graphic design. She paints! She draws! She builds amazing things out of ordinary stuff! She is always, always, putting beauty into this world, and teaching children to embrace art, think creatively, and make positive contributions with her lessons.

Danielle is also funny. She is sarcastic. She is fun and refreshing to be around. She is real. She is humble. And I don't think she realizes just how great she is.

Danielle, for your passion, your work ethic your amazing talent and your cooler-than-cool, you're a Woman Who Wows me.

It's day twelve of celebrating women who , and I've been really excited for this one.

Meet Lisa.

You go ahead and look up 'fierce' in the dictionary and you're going to find her. She is bold and bright and unique, a single mom who has never had anyone hand her anything, she's always made it work, and has come through more than most of us. I respect her resilience a lot.

But Lisa is on my list because she is, hands down, the most unflinchingly loyal person I have ever had the privilege to know, and that type of loyalty, particularly in this day and age, is such a beautiful, special, rare quality. If you're in her circle, or in her family, you don't even need to question it, you know she's got your back. Whether you need her to listen to you cry, or to beat someone with a shoe, she never stops showing the people in her life how much she cares, and she's always stepping up. And I hope the Universe gives this back to her a thousand fold. Lisa is one of a kind, and someone we can all learn something from about character and authenticity.

Lisa, for your spirit, your loyalty, and for being the embodiment of strength, you're a Woman Who Wows me.

As promised, I'm back with day eleven of celebrating women who and of course if you know her, you knew this one was coming.

Meet Melissa.

Melissa is one of the toughest women I know, yet somehow she's still a person who cares deeply about her friends, her family, and her community.

An accomplished Master Stylist from East Hants, Melissa spent several years living in Alberta with her husband Devan. In 2013, they decided to move back to Nova Scotia with their two small children and build a life here.

But things don't always work out according to plan, and also bad things sometimes happen to great people, and while they were house hunting here in Nova Scotia, Devan passed away suddenly from a heart attack at only 33 years old.

What followed was, as expected, a time of great pain for Melissa, but also a time where she showed immense grace and strength, protecting her children and moving forward while continuing to honour Devan,. When life throws the worst at us, some of us wither and some of us persevere, and Melissa is definitely the latter of the two.

So yes I love her strength, but I also love her curiosity about life, always experimenting with recipes, or devouring novels, or opening herself up to new possibilities. Happily, one of those possibilities was Eric, who gave her the second shot at love and marriage that she so completely deserved.

Melissa, for your strength, the example you set for us all, and your kind heart, you're a Woman Who Wows me.

Let me begin day ten of celebrating women who by saying that if you're reading this, I might be dead, because she may kill me for this.

Meet Nadine.

Nadine is here to tell you that if you get knocked down seven times, you get up eight. Just be fierce and determined and have a remarkable zest for life, like her.

Cancer came knocking at Nadine's door, and you know what she did? She kicked its ass. She's almost seven years cancer free.

When the pandemic hit and Nadine, like so many others in the airline industry, found herself out of work, you know what she did? She took her love of photography and made it a career and is now absolutely crushing it, capturing people and moments in the most beautiful ways with Nadine Michelle Photography

Nadine is funny. She is smart. She is sometimes raw and always real. She's a loving wife and an amazing mom to two boys. She's a friend, that friend who always seems to know the right thing to say. She is strength. She is grace. She is a survivor. And I'm awfully proud to know her.

Nadine, for your power, your ability to pivot, and your beauty inside and out, you're a Woman Who Wows me.

It's day nine, celebrating women who

Meet Tanya.

Tanya is golden glitter in the air. She's warmth and style and intelligence and beauty, and you feel special just being near her. And there are a few things I want to tell you about her.

First, she's a mega successful real estate agent, a Newfoundlander who now lives in, and loves, the North End of Halifax. Tanya has been an incredible ambassador for the area, spreading the word that the North End is full of class and character, acting as a face for its revitalization. Does she look familiar to you? Maybe you've seen her on HGTV helping people find the perfect home, or on the local news sharing her expertise on the real estate market in Nova Scotia.

Second, she represents women of colour and women in business in a way that is above reproach. She gets - really gets - the importance of setting the bar high and carving a path for others to follow, and she's does it every day, in the most remarkable ways.

Third, she's a single mom who raised a beautiful daughter, she's never been handed a frigging thing, and she's built herself an empire from the ground up. And when she's not empire-building, you'll find her volunteering, giving back, with a big beautiful smile on her face.

Tanya, that was pretty much an essay but I have so much to say about you. For your ambition, your character, and your honest to goodness magic, you're a Woman Who Wows me.

Day Eight of celebrating women who

Meet Karen.

Karen is one of my best friends, we met at jury duty years ago and instantly connected. She's also a rising star in the insurance industry, and she'll tell you she's not a fitness buff but she has no problem going to a 5 a.m. yoga class or running 5 kms before breakfast.

There are a lot of things I admire about Karen, but one of the most profound is her love for animals. She doesn't just say it, she lives it. Karen is a regular foster mom to homeless cats, and volunteers her time, money and energy to stepping up and helping four legged creatures who need it the most. Her gentle nature and huge heart make her a natural and passionate advocate for animals, and also a really great friend.

Karen is another example of a woman who is being the change. She can't stand to see animals suffering or neglected, but instead of switching the channel or thinking about something else, she steps up and says here I am, how can I help, and she just keeps on setting an example for us all. For her dedication, her passion and her huge heart, Karen is a Woman Who Wows me.

Day Seven, celebrating women who

Meet Crystal

Crystal is the Operations Manager at Canadian Home Builders' Association Nova Scotia which technically makes her my client, but she's also my friend. And you know what's incredible about Crystal? She's everyone's friend.

People don't like Crystal, they love her. And not because she's a meek and mild pushover, in fact she's quite the opposite. Crystal is hyper-organized, gets things done, doesn't shy away from the truth even when it's hard, and she'll keep you to your word. But she does it with such a unique charm, a big smile, and a sense of empathy, that she commands respect without ever asking for it. Her people-first approach - and her sweet Newfoundland accent - make her a constant bright light in the lives of those who are lucky enough to interact with her on a regular basis. Oh, and her laugh is absolutely infectious.

Sitting smack dab in the centre of the residential construction industry in our province, she keeps the CHBA-NS membership organized, informed, and entertained, and still somehow finds time to be an amazing mom, wife, and daughter. Crystal, for wearing so many hats with so much class and grace, you are a Woman Who Wows me.

Day Six of celebrating women who

Meet Stacy

Stacy owns a dairy farm in Milford and is also an accomplished artist, and if you think that's an interesting combo, that's really just the tip of the iceberg.

I met Stacy when my daughter began taking art lessons in her basement. Her intelligence, passion, and gentle guidance made Stacy an instant role model for my daughter, and for so many other budding artists in our community.

But Stacy isn't just an artist/farmer, she's a creator/wonderer/problem solver. When her husband was diagnosed with Celiac disease, Stacy removed every grain of gluten from their home, and worked day and night to develop great tasting, easy-to-use alternate flours. This quest inspired a gluten-free cookbook full of recipes she's created and perfected, which we're all on the edge of our seats waiting to get ahold of.

But for Stacy that's not enough, so she also owns VENO luxe where you can get yourself the most beautiful and durable leather goods including handbags, belts, wallets, and more.

Everything Stacy touches turns to gold, and she's always putting something out into the world that makes it a better, more beautiful place to be. For her limitless talents and her boundless energy, Stacy is a Woman Who Wows me.

Meet Julie.

Julie is a successful businessperson and she's all the assurance you need that you don't have to abandon your authentic self in order to achieve big.

An LGBTQIA2S+ ally and the owner of Skin Decision Inc. , Julie is the embodiment of grace, gratitude, and seeing the world through empathetic eyes. She has followed her passion, believed in herself, not believed in herself but still kept going, and blazed a trail for other women to follow.

She's talented, honest, ambitious, humble and real. Any time I've ever talked with Julie, I walk away feeling enriched.

For being an amazing example to us all to live our lives in such a way that we can love the person we see in the mirror each morning, Julie is a Woman Who Wows me.

Day Four, celebrating women who

Meet Laura.

Laura's the owner of Ohhh, She's Crafty - the go-to place for so many of us when we want sassy and hilarious creations for ourselves or to give as gifts.

In 2019, Laura's brother was critically ill, his kidneys failing him. When Laura found out she was a match, she didn't even hesitate, she jumped in and bravely underwent major surgery to remove her kidney and give it to him. I'm happy to report that the transplant was a success and both brother and sister are thriving.

But Laura didn't stop there. She's become an advocate for organ donation, using her voice whenever possible to encourage others to give the gift of life. She's also a regular at the blood clinic, helping save lives one visit at a time.

Laura is the best of us, and she's being the change she wants to see in the world. For her selflessness, her courage, and her passion, Laura's a Woman Who Wows me.
