A few weeks ago, I was thrilled when a former resident of Fort St. James reached out, asking me to re-create a photo from 1989. This project was special to me for several reasons. First, I got to see a picture of my neighborhood from the year I was born! Secondly, being relatively new to drone photography, it was an honor to be asked, and I love a good challenge.

The original photo was taken from an airplane, so to match the islands' perspective perfectly, I had to push the limits of my drone's height capacity. The winds were relentless last week, delaying our plans, but we finally picked a beautiful, mild day for the shoot. Despite the challenges, including almost crashing into a tree and ignoring 4 wind warnings and demands to land from the drone, I managed to capture the exact spot of the original photo, unlocking a new level of drone expertise along the way!

The photo was sent to Papyrus in Prince George for printing. Their upgraded printers produced amazing quality on my calendars, so I knew they were the right choice when my client requested a poster-sized image. I’ll share a side-by-side of the original and my re-creation once I have the print in hand—I’m so proud of this project and can not wait to pick it up! (That & my next issue of my colouring book!)

I am heading to the post office this morning with 5 packages headed out around Canada with Fort St. James calendars.

If you want your calendars in the mail TODAY, you have to message & pay me this morning.

After this I will not be mailing out calendars myself at all, you will need to find them on So Divine Artisan's Boutique website, which is fabulous & I totally recommend shopping on for this holiday season!

And those will be available after the weekend so reach out now if you're in a rush to get them mailed out before Christmas!

IT’S OFFICIAL: THE CALENDARS ARE FINALLY HERE! 🗓️✨

​Thank you all so much for your patience! Printing took a little longer than expected this year thanks to election season, but they’ve officially arrived and look amazing!

​To say this fall has been a whirlwind would be an understatement! Between shooting 4 weddings in September, my ongoing work with the local newspaper covering the elections, and averaging 4 to 6 photo shoots a week, this is officially my busiest season ever.

​When I’m out in the field with my camera, I can't be at my desk answering messages or delivering galleries—so thank you from the bottom of my heart for hanging in there with me!

​Getting to be so deeply intertwined with our community—from attending the debates to stopping by the FPX barbecue—remains my absolute favorite part of this job.

I feel so lucky to be a part of everything going on here. SOOO on that NOTE!

​Meet Tegan! 🤝

​To help keep everything running smoothly, I’ve brought back my amazing assistant, Tegan!

You might remember her from last year when she helped send out albums and edit after Santa photos. She has great experience working with photographers in Alberta (and is a killer photographer in her own right—though she’s mine for now! 😉).

​Tegan will be working closely with me as we wrap up wedding albums, deliver 4 upcoming sneak peeks, and finish returning 6 family photo shoots (including two private ones!). With shoots booked every single day through Sunday, having her on board is a lifesaver.

​This is my 7th year publishing calendars, and I have clients coming back for their 5th year of photos. Having people who have supported me every single year, every step of the way, is the sole reason I’m busy enough to even need an assistant today.

I truly cannot thank you all enough for your trust, support, and community spirit.

​(P.S. In four years, somebody please remind me to send my calendar files to the printer in July so I can avoid election printing traffic! 🗳️😂)

Recently we at Northern Sage were inspired by the creativity of another northern BC local photographer Taylor Hansen, Photography & Design.

She recently released some colouring pages and books using her beautiful photography. We decided to try it out ourselves. So below you see the proofs of our very first official Northern Sage colouring book! All pages inside are a photos that we have taken throughout the year in and around Quesnel BC. There is a mix of wildlife and landscape, and flowers.

Yesterday was an absolutely perfect evening for a family photoshoot, and then out stepped a TEENAGER from the truck! 😂

Haha, just kidding.

There's nothing more satisfying than ending the evening rolling in the leaves with the very same teen who gave you the "why are we HERE" eyes at the start.

Helping your kids, no matter their age, open up and have fun behind the camera is something I truly love to do. 📸🍂

It’s so hard for me not to go straight into, STORY TIME! 😄

Back in 2020-2021, the mom from this amazing family reached out, asking to borrow something for her maternity shoot. Of course, I said yes, and that was the start of a beautiful client relationship! I've done so many photoshoots with them now that I've lost count. We've surprised her kids with Santa, set up an Italian spaghetti smash, snapped mommy & me photos, gone fishing, and captured maternity, newborn, Christmas, and every fall since the early 2020s.

Around that same time, I got serious about my photography journey and started paying for Lightroom. Fun fact: my Brooks preset is the one I use every fall! I always ask families about their preferred editing style—vibrant, light and airy, or warm tones—for their photos. And anytime you see warm photos, I am using the pre-set that I created for this family back when brooks was born!

Personally, I'm a sucker for warm tones, and this time of year just hits the spot for me! I read another photographer say warm tones are out, (it made me laugh) not for autumn! The glow of the trees and leaves is everything, and it makes me love my job even more.

Especially for my repeat customers—they're the ones who pay my bills, fuel my heart, and build this recurring bond that warms me up. I saw a little girl at my daughter's daycare recently who was thrilled to see me, and knowing photography created that bond just makes me so happy and proud.

Capture your memories over and over so you have a piece of these moments forever. 📸❤️

(I should note that this was not a fall mini session, this was a full blown family session, we did 2 locations, 2 outfit changes, a mommy & me session and family session. These shoots range around $250, which is where you get the break paying $125 for the 20 minute mini sessions.)

What started as Davis & myself being bored one beautiful autumn day in 2021, has turned into an annual tradition that I am so proud to be apart of.

Each year we gather when the leaves are just perfect, and create some pretty horrific scenes 🤣 the one year we had construction workers gathering around the hospital watching us because Charmaine taped together a bunch of two liters and wrapped it with a tarp and started dragging it up the pipeline & even though it was pouring rain we were all laughing until we were crying 🤗😏 and last year I had the most beautiful group of witches let me light fire in their hands.

Each year is as unique as the people who participate & I am always so excited to hang out in the bushes and get weird.

I want to give a truly special thank you to Keisha who has speer headed this meet up this year! I said I didn't have time to plan this but I still wanted to give back in a creepy way, not only did she finalize the information but she also created this amazing poster for me!

(This isn't really a kid friendly event, in the past we've really freaked out kids or they've gotten too close to the smoke bombs (those are BYOBomb BTW) for their safety this is a plus 11 event)

Yesterday, I was super grateful to have two family photoshoots in this gorgeous autumn weather.

The first shoot happened right before dinner, and the lighting was just perfect. Everything about this session went so well. We wrapped up the entire shoot in the 20-minute mini session, capturing tons of love and movement in the photos. It was tough to decide how many photos to send because I usually end up with more than expected!

I've got another family photoshoot tonight, but looking into next week we're facing some iffy weather.

The rain and wind will probably strip the trees of their beautiful leaves.

If you want to change your session to today at 5 or 6, or if you missed booking a session and want to grab the chance before the rain takes away the beauty, please reach out right away!

Also, I do a free Hallowe'en photoshoot every year just off Kwah Road, planned for tomorrow. If you want more info, just comment below, and I'll send you the details.

Basically, come dressed in something fun—maybe a cute outfit, a mask, and a shovel work great—and I'll post your awesome photos online!

I've also got fake blood (stains a little) and props we can light on fire!
