Linda Thornton, a member of the North Peace Seniors Housing Society board and owner of Better Cents Bookkeeping, has been named July's Fort St. John Co-op Community Champion 🏆

Thornton has been selected as the Community Champion due to her amazing work during the North Peace Seniors Housing Society radiothon on June 5, 2026. She has served as treasurer of the society since their last annual general meeting. According to Thornton, being treasurer is “really exciting” because it allows for getting involved in the community and making decisions to improve seniors’ lives in the housing society. She said meeting seniors and knowing the society’s decisions actually make a difference to seniors has been “really rewarding.”

Meet July's Youth Athlete of the Month 👏

Adrianna Mckenzie will be competing in her fifth season with the North Peace Gymnastics Association this fall. Starting out in the NPGA InterClub program, Adrianna has now moved up to the Silver level of competition and could make the Gold level come fall. Focusing on the floor, balance beam, uneven parallel bars and vault, Adrianna dedicates around nine hours per week to practice, even training at home when necessary.
