Have you ever wished you could reclaim an extra half‑day each week—just by letting your accounting software do the heavy lifting? That’s exactly what’s happening in the world of small business thanks to AI. Intuit just launched intelligent AI agents for QuickBooks, automating tasks like payments, bookkeeping, and financial analysis—and saving users up to 12 hours per month. Picture swapping tedious data entry for focus on what really matters: connecting with customers, crafting new offerings, or finally taking that coffee break.

But it’s not just about the software—the devices matter too. New AI‑ready PCs, like MSI’s Cubi NUC AI+ 2M with Intel Lunar Lake chips, now deliver powerful AI tools right on your desktop. No need to worry about slow internet or cloud delays—just instant, local AI that assists you wherever you work.

And yet, a surprising hurdle persists: many local business owners still feel unsure about how to leverage AI, and that’s holding them back. That’s why free training programs are popping up—and why embracing both education and the latest gear is so important. What would you do with an extra 12 hours a month? Share your thoughts in the comments—how could AI help your shop, cafe, or salon?

If you own a local business, chances are you’ve already been called five times today by someone claiming your business “isn’t being found online.”

You know the pitch:
“Hi, this is Jason from Google Listing Services. We noticed your business profile isn’t active…” 😑

Let’s be clear:
🚫 These calls are NOT from Google.
🚫 Your listing isn't disappearing.
🚫 They’re trying to scare you into paying for services you don’t need.

Here’s what actually works:
✅ Keep your Google Business Profile updated
✅ Get reviews from real customers
✅ Show up with helpful content and photos
✅ Use real SEO, not robocalls

Tired of the noise? Me too. Let’s spread the word and help other small businesses stay focused on what actually matters.
Work with LOCAL agencies (like GreymouseServices.com), not someone with language issues, calling from a different country!

📞 RING RING
"Hi, this is Jason from 'Google Listing Services'. Your business isn't being found online! Press 1 to activate your listing..."

👀 If you're a local business owner, you already know... this is call #47 just today.

We're bombarded daily with spammy calls claiming our listings are "invisible" or "about to disappear." Newsflash: These aren't Google. They're aggressive telemarketers trying to sell fear, not solutions.

✅ Already have a Google Business Profile? Great.
✅ Want to actually improve your visibility? Focus on real SEO, quality content, and community engagement — not robo-pitches.

📣 To all the hardworking business owners: You’re not alone. Let’s keep calling out the noise and staying smart with our marketing.

💡TIP: When you answer after their initial "spiel" just ask this: Can you give me your business phone and address? Guaranteed CLICK and their gone (till next time at least).🤣

To all my BC friends/family...
I was just on the phone for a very INTERESTING call.
It was from "James" (with a heavy accent) calling from 1-250-368-8485 who said he was with BC Hydro and that there was a disconnection notice for my business (Greymouse Web Design & Local Marketing Services) slated for 1 hour from now. Of course, I could call "BC Hydro" at this 1-800-260-7207 number to cancel the disconnection.

The joke is... my biz doesn't have a BC Hydro account... LOL. 😁

PLEASE do not fall for this garbage, be alert, be cautious, be aware!

Quick warning to all of you out there (local business owners/home offices/home businesses) that use WordPress or have your site built with WordPress.
Watch for a PHISHING scam email that warns of a WordPress security issue with your site.
From Wordfence security -
The Wordfence Threat Intelligence Team has recently been informed of a phishing campaign targeting WordPress users. The Phishing email claims to be from the WordPress team and warns of a Remote Code Ex*****on vulnerability on the user's site with an identifier of CVE-2023-45124, which is not currently a valid CVE. The email prompts the victim to download a "Patch" plugin and install it.
DO NOT... it is a backdoor trojan that they are installing!

All of us, but ESPECIALLY Local Businesses, need to stay alert! There is a MASSIVE amount of fraudsters/scammers using many different methods to steal or hack into your FB accounts. Be Vigilante, Be Cautious, Be Aware 😱😳

What is with these fake pages constantly harassing us? 😡 Can't Facebook's sophisticated AI tell when their *own* logo is being used to set up a new Page? And then nix it before the bots and bad actors start wreaking havoc?!? 😳
The scammers were mostly favoring phishing DMs lately, including supposed customer service complaints (with links for zip files). Or comments. Or @ tagging your Page. Now it seems tons of them *share* your Page posts because you can't untag yourself. Still, each time, my team and I tap through to the scammy Page to REPORT and BLOCK. Unreal. 🤦🏼‍♀️

What is so troubling to me is that many folks out there are falling for these various scams. And as a result get their account hacked, compromised, or shut down even. Ugh! 😫 The worst is when they get into your Ad Account and start racking up your credit card bill with erroneous ads. How in the heck Meta's AI approves these is beyond me.

Friends, please remember how critical it is to the safety of your personal profile, Pages, Groups, Ad Account, personal data, and credit card to *fiercely protect* your account!! Don't click on links in DMs. Don't fall for these scammy FB Pages trying to trick you. 🤺🥊 Make sure you have two-factor authentication set up using a proper authenticator app like Google Authenticator or Duo Mobile or similar. 📱🔐

Any questions, please just let me know. I'm happy to help best I can!!

Eyes open, mind sharp and always be guarded with regards to DM's, IM's, emails and notifications... It's just TOO easy these days to get scammed/defrauded.

SCAM ALERT!! 💥 Friends, there's a significant increase in scams doing the rounds on Facebook lately. 🚫 BE VERY, VERY CAREFUL of clicking on *any* links in posts or DMs or comments. 🚫 It's all too easy to get duped and you do NOT want to get hacked and lose access to your profile or business Page, or have your credit card used to rack up sizable ad spend, or fall for any kind of awful scam!! 😖

The scams include:
► Fake Pages or personal profiles sending DMs to you claiming to have purchased something from you and complaining about customer service, or wanting a refund or something like that.
► DMs asking to check out one of your products and the message includes a RAR or ZIP file encouraging you to click / download.
► DMs alerting you about a password change to your company email.
► Fake Pages tagging your Page, or sharing your posts, claiming that you've violated Meta's terms and threatening to shut down / deactivate your Page.
► And a whole myriad of other scam / phishing variations.

📢 EVERY single weird looking direct message, post on your wall, tag from a fake page, even a share from a fake page is ALL a big fat scam.

NONE of it is legit.

Not one.

Ever.

So there's no need to have any doubt as to whether something is legit or not.

It's not.

Facebook / Meta definitely does not alert you via tagged posts or shares. And only very, very rarely would you ever receive a DM directly from FB/Meta but not about violations... The scammers use bots to set up fake Pages that *look* like they might be legit. Often if you look closely, you'll see that the Meta logo is upside down! 😮

SIGNS TO SPOT SCAMS:

1️⃣ The post / comments / DM (or email) includes a weird looking URL that has *nothing* to do with Facebook or Meta. (But, be careful, because the scammers are good at creating URLs that *might* look legit).
2️⃣ Typos, grammatical errors.
3️⃣ Use of Meta's logo.
4️⃣ Long page names that include some kind of Page violation warning, or similar. Or, the Page name might even be short like 'Community Standards.'
5️⃣ And a whole host of other signs - feel free to share more that you've come across.

👉🏻 Along with avoiding clicking any links yourself, do *not* copy the DM or post, and share it in any groups or elsewhere with the actual live link. This perpetuates the scam and leaves others at risk if they were to click the phishing links. 🚫🔗

STEPS TO TAKE IF YOU SUSPECT A SCAM:

✔︎ Ignore / delete.
✔︎ *Never* click on suspicious links.
✔︎ Report the account/Page.
✔︎ Ban / block the profile or Page.

Facebook is absolutely rampant with these awful scams, with bad actors and bots trying to dupe us into clicking on their crazy schemes, hoping they'll gain access to our ad account, page, followers, credit cards, even. 😳

The scammers seem to get more and more clever, trying out all manner of schemes.

It's so unfortunate that Facebook cannot do more to proactively prevent these horrid scenarios. 🤦🏼‍♀️

🔐 Meanwhile, please ensure that your accounts are all safe and locked down by enabling two-factor authentication via an authenticator app. As well as reviewing apps that have access to your account. There's much you can do to proactively create a safety net around your online accounts. Certainly, it's a solid best practice to avoid clicking anything remotely suspicious in DMs or posts (or emails). I'll share my extensive article with 12 Steps To Secure Your Facebook Account in the comments. 🔐

Got any questions? Just let me know.

Here is another important PSA that I saw posted elsewhere...
Watch for banking emails with links in them like these (see photo to see just how cunning the hackers can be).
The 1st Golden rule for any link you are sent that appears to be from a bank is to ignore it, open a new browser window, and log in to your bank account as you normally would.
Golden rule #2, scroll your mouse over the sender's email address, you can spot a fraudulent email address a mile away.

Local Businesses - Don't Get HIJACKED... There is a scam going around FB. If you get one of these, report the post to FB, say they are impersonating Facebook, they'll get shut down instantly, but usually pop up again sending this type of "Warning" to innocent FB page owners. Don't be duped! It is DEFINITELY NOT FB.

Stay tuned, local business owners... the "future" is here NOW...
My mind is brimming with the potential benefits of using AI for local businesses.
