🧡🪶 5,000 FEATHERS. ONE MESSAGE OF UNITY.
With the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, the 5,000 Truth & Reconciliation Feather Pin Campaign was created to put a visible symbol of remembrance, conversation and unity into our communities.
Each feather represents an opportunity to remember the children, honour Survivors, learn from our shared history, and encourage Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to move forward together with greater understanding and respect.
The goal isn't simply to distribute 5,000 pins — it's to create 5,000 opportunities for meaningful conversations and remind people that reconciliation continues beyond a single day.
Behind that mission is Pat Gatz, known as Chief Little Eagle.
With Indigenous roots connected to the Matachewan and Algonquin First Nation communities, Pat's work centres around sharing Indigenous culture and knowledge, reconnecting people with Mother Nature, educating future generations, and building stronger relationships between people.
Through Hunting for Greatness — The Native Ways, Pat shares knowledge about wildlife, the outdoors, traditional ways and respect for the land. He's also an author whose work includes Dreamy the Dream Warrior, along with his wild-game book and other educational works created to pass knowledge and stories on to future generations.
At the centre of the books, the teachings, Hunting for Greatness and the feather campaign is one driving purpose:
UNITY.
Pat's message is about bringing people together — acknowledging the truth of the past, creating understanding in the present and building something better for generations to come.
Different backgrounds. Different cultures. Different stories.
But one human family with a future we all share.
