Thank you for your lovely post about our special afternoon this past Sunday! You captured it so beautifully. 💕 We 2nd all that you shared:

There is nothing like sewing with other makers (that’s all of you!).

Hosted at ’s gorgeous studio, in collaboration with The Maker’s Print Shop, we spent the afternoon sewing what might just be the ultimate beginner crowd-pleaser (in my opinion): The Sloane Pullover by fellow Canadian .

Some new faces, some familiar ones.

And the cherry on top — sewing alongside Becky from , who first imagined this sewing community and studio into being, and from whom so many of us have learned. I hope she could see the ripples of her warm, generous guidance, blooming into something really beautiful.

As for the pattern itself, the first slide should say it all - check out Katie from rocking her brand new make, finishing seconds before heading out with friends! And shoutout to for bringing the embroidery machine. See if you can spot Katherine’s gorgeous floral embroidery on slide 14. And check out Katelyn (), who knocked it out of the park with that slam dunk Sportsball embroidery (see what I did there? 🤣😅)!

Overheard more than once:

“I’ve never made something, put it on immediately, and loved it.”

And that was the whole point.

There was tea, and chocolate, and catch-ups.

There was sewing and swearing and sharing.

And by the end, a room full of people wearing (or holding) something they made themselves, with their hands.

We love the Sloane. Thank you, Liliya 🤍

More of this, please.

✨Instructor Spotlight: Alex Turgeon✨

We are so excited to share more about Alex! Her journey into the sewing world didn’t start with a family heirloom machine—it started in the world of bridal. 👰

While working with gowns and veils, Alex fell in love with how fabrics move, layer, and blend. That curiosity turned into a mission: teaching herself how to sew.

From big dreams of silk suits to the humbling (and rewarding!) experience of her first community classes, she’s proven that sewing is accessible to everyone, no matter where you start.

“Every day I sew, I am reminded of how grateful I am for the community that taught me. I hope to bring that same joy to you!”

A few fun facts about Alex:
🌲 Nature Lover: When she’s not at the machine, she might be bird-watching or exploring local trails.

📚 Cozy Vibes: She’s a fan of a good book and quality time with friends.

🌱 Self-Taught Pro: She’s proof that with a little courage and a great community, you can master even the trickiest fabrics.

Alex is ready to support you on your own sewing journey and help you turn your “big dreams” into finished garments.

Join her for the Pipit Duster workshop (pattern by ) this May to make a summer kimono for your me made wardrobe!
