HOW TO BUNNY PROOF YOUR HOUSE!
Bunny proofing your home is essential! There are many things in homes that can be unsafe for bunnies. Additionally, bunnies like to chew on anything they can find, so bunny proofing can help maintain the condition of your house.
Here are five things that every bunny owner should do:
🐰Purchase wire covers and flex tubing. Wires are one of the main targets of bunnies. Their sharp teeth can slice through your wires quickly, damaging your items or even electrocuting your rabbit. Flex tubing can protect wooden table or chair legs.
🐰Cover baseboards. Baseboards are also frequently chewed by bunnies. You can protect your baseboards by covering them with plastic guards or furring strips found at your local hardware store.
🐰Block off areas with baby gates. If there are certain rooms that are unsafe for your bunny to be in or rooms with precious items, block off these areas. This will stop your bunny from getting into trouble while roaming the house. Bunnies can chew through things very quickly, so make sure to purchase metal or quality plastic gates. Additionally, watch out that there are not any spaces around or in your gate as bunnies can squeeze through very tight spots!
🐰Beware of poisonous houseplants! Many plants are toxic to bunnies. It is best to leave all plants out of the reach of your bunny. Poinsettia, holly, tomato leaves, and tulips are among the plants toxic to bunnies.
🐰Purchase toys as a distraction. Providing many toys can help prevent your rabbit from chewing on your belongings. Bunnies are less destructive to your home when they are occupied!
