I am beyond thrilled to share that I am starting a new position as National Communications Advisor at CPAWS Canada!

I've loved working with clients and colleagues at Promosaurus, but the opportunity to focus full-time on communications to protect Canada's wildlife and their ecosystems is a dream come true!

It really made my day on Monday to find out that my business, Promosaurus, received three awards with CommunityVotes Guelph!

🐢Silver in the Social Media Marketing category

🦉Top Pick in the Marketing and Advertisement category

Apparently, this year's CommunityVotes campaign hosted 30,092 nominations and votes cast by members of the community (so I think it’s fair to assume that more than just my friends voted for me! Haha).

For me, my work through Promosaurus really comes down to making a positive impact for the environment, nature, and all the animals and plants in this world. I’m doing that by serving those who are working hard on solutions for nature.

During the pandemic, I found a hobby that I love. What I didn’t expect was that it could also be a good way to support conservation. 💗🧶

I’ve been really inspired by others who are using their art to contribute to conservation.

I wanted to throw another art form in the ring, and make a call out to artists of other media to get in on the action!

With my crochet….

🦧 & 🧡 - 100% of the money raised went to through

🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢 - 100% of proceeds went to

🦖 - Donated to to be a Christmas Gift for a youth in need. (Not conservation, but still important!)

This wasn’t a huge amount, and my stuffies don’t lend well to logos or web designs, but I have to say, these projects were tremendously rewarding.

And, if I’m going to be working on a project in my hobby time anyway….I love it when those efforts contribute to a purpose that I’m deeply passionate about.

I also hope that nerding out a bit about the species as I've posted my projects has inspired some love and conservation for them! 🌳

I think one-of-a-kind art pieces are a great way of getting your audience to tell your story FOR YOU!! (Listen to Andrew’s episode of with Natalie Gilson to hear what I mean!)

👉I’d love to crochet more animals for conservation. If your organization would like a stuffie for a raffle or another fundraising event, please get in touch!

An earned media win for the Guelph Tool Library!

It was super fun being 'on the set' and filming with the awesome group at the Guelph Tool Library today for an episode of GuelphLIFE on Rogers TV!! 🎥

I've been volunteering as a sewist at the Repair Cafes for about a year now, and obviously, I love it! I love fixing stuff with my sewing machine and have repaired all kinds of things for visitors. 🧵 🧶

🤔On the topic of marketing, this is a great example of earned media! Ryan from GuelphLIFE had noticed the Tool Library many times when going through the Quebec St Mall to watch Storm games. One day, he got in touch with the team, and of course, they were thrilled with the idea of being in a segment!

I wanted to support the Tool Library by offering to be interviewed today since I have public speaking experience and am passionate about repair cafes! But it also may turn into some good publicity for Promosaurus as we talked about what I do, and he was interested in doing an interview about that sometime! I was not expecting that, so it was a nice surprise!

Sometimes, you just have to say 'yes' and go for different opportunities, even if they are scary!

My experience made me think of earned media, and I wanted to share some thoughts on it in case they can help you with the organization you work with!

Earned media is a great way to:
👉 Get a much larger, broader reach to a new audience
👉 Enhance your visibility and increase traction
👉 Increase awareness of you and your business
👉 It increases your credibility because now a respected new/media outlet has covered your enterprise. 👉This builds trust and loyalty.

I am sure this segment will be great for the Guelph Tool Library, and I hope that it will also help to spread awareness about waste reduction and repair. 🌎It will air on Rogers TV at the end of this month or in early March. So keep a look out! 📺

🤔 What can you actually get out of a 1-hr marketing consultation?

“Consultation” can be a wishy-washy word. 🧼 Anyone can talk at you for an hour and call it a "consultation."

We feel that a proper consultation should be more than just a conversation – it should give you a clear list of actionable takeaways, ✅✅✅ leaving you ready to hit the ground running! 👟

For my own client consultations, I always make this practicality a top priority. How we get there depends on your business and where you’re at, but I always start by reviewing your goals 🎯 and looking at the reality of your available time and resources ⏱️

Then we have a focused, tailored discussion based on what you need for your business right now and where you want to take it 🧭🗺️.

That said, I’ve also been known to offer feedback when I notice things that may not be on your radar!

One more thing, though – a proper consultation should help you fit your to-dos into the context of your whole business💼… and your whole life👩‍👩‍👦…the tasks need to be doable and realistic!!

Because let’s be real. Running your own business isn’t JUST business – it’s also a deeply personal thing. 💗 It's enmeshed into everything else you do in your life.

This year, I’m committed to launching Promosaurus into the wildlife conservation space, and I couldn’t have chosen a better way to get that started than by volunteering for the last week at the Ontario Turtle Conservation Center .

I absolutely loved it! 🐢💚🐢💚🐢

I had several exciting conversations with the OTCC staff about strategy, marketing, branding, messaging, printed materials, social media, and other ways to connect with their audiences for their volunteer and education program and the Grand Opening of their new centre.
