Did you know that Doug and Cathy met at summer camp? It was love at first ‘Smore! We know, cute, right?

Their days as camp leaders instilled in them the power of kindness, creativity, play and teamwork that have guided our company for almost 25 years. Can you sort the “then” photo and the “now” one? Hint… in the “now” pic they’re wearing awesome bracelets made by camp kids funded by the Children's Foundation!

Summer camp provides opportunities for kids to discover new interests, learn teamwork, build social skills, and increase their self-esteem. Camp provides kids with a break from digital distractions and other daily stresses, too. It’s an incredible opportunity for any child, and we know that many kids can’t afford to go. That’s where comes in. Last year, their Free to Grow program funded over 350 kids to attend summer camp.

On average, through the Children’s Foundation, it costs $200 to send one child to camp for a week. We think that’s a bargain and we’re happy to be able to help kids get this amazing experience that changed Doug and Cathy’s lives forever.

My, how the time flies! It’s hard to believe that Sarah Beube (and her pup-kins, Nike & Joey) have been with us three whole years. 🎈

At the same time, she fits in so beautifully, it’s like we’ve been hanging together for decades. We sure couldn’t live without Sarah’s clever and creative writing, deep digital marketing knowledge, and curious, nonstop brain.

Our Story

Doug MacMillan, current President and Co-Owner, joined The Letter M in 1990 as an Account Manager. Doug worked his way up, eventually purchasing the business (previously known as Barrow Communications) with his wife Cathy in 2000. Since then, they have guided our close-knit team according to their values of doing good work, giving back to the community, and leading a healthy work/life balance. Over the years, Doug and Cathy have built a team of wonderful individuals with a reputation for creating high-quality products and, perhaps more importantly, for caring deeply about our relationships with our clients and community. This year, The Letter M celebrated 40 years of business in Guelph. We are proud to have been a part of this community for so long!
