Our Mission: To grow the Jersey breed in Canada by maintaining the integrity of the herdbook and providing tools to increase profitability. Jersey Canada is the non-profit national association for owners and breeders of registered and recorded Jersey cattle. In addition to managing the absolute integrity of the herdbook, Jersey Canada administers and protects the animals registered name and the breeder's prefix. Along with production data and classification results, breeding and progeny records, and genetic markers are available on our pedigree database (on-line). Genetic testing is something we facilitate for our members. From the All Canadian contest to awards and scholarships, we host a number of programs for the Jersey enthusiast! We offer a slew of marketing options and produce the Canadian Jersey Breeder publication.

The Berry Family invites nominations for the annual Clifton Berry Ambassador Award, in memory of Clifton Berry, to be presented during the National Jersey Show at the 2026 Royal Agricultural Winter Fair.

The ideal candidate is a highly respected leader in the Jersey community, demonstrating dedication and commitment to the breed. You have exhibited regularly at Jersey shows, represented the breed as an official judge, and actively mentored other breeders. As an avid promoter of the Jersey breed, you have participated in association activities and events, exemplifying exceptional leadership qualities.

Applications are invited before September 30, 2026. Please note applications sent after 2022 will still be considered and if you would like to revise your outstanding application you may - jerseycanada.com/awards/

Let’s get digital!

Jersey Canada is happy to announce that digital registration certificates are now available! By signing up for this service, your certificates and work orders can be sent directly to your email inbox instead of printed and mailed. Digital certificates will also be stored and available for download at your convenience from your account portal.

Signed up but still need a paper registration certificate? Clients can request individual certificates be printed at the Jersey Canada office and mailed for no additional cost.

There is no fee for this service, but anyone wishing to begin to receive digital certificates needs to opt-in by following the link below:

The nomination deadline for Jersey Canada Board of Directors positions is Wednesday, September 30th, 2026. The following areas are due for election:

District: West 12, Linda Horner (incumbent)
District: Ontario 3, Kerry Alexander (incumbent)
District: Quebec 3, Danny Morin (outgoing President)

Nomination for the office of Director must be made in writing, to be received at the office of the Association by September 30th, 2026. To be valid, a nomination must be signed by five members in good standing, not including the nominee, all residing in the electoral district, and the nominee must, by his/her signature, show willingness to act in the best interest of the corporation. Nomination forms can be obtained on the Jersey Canada website jerseycanada.com/board-of-directors/

If, by October 1st, 2026, there is only one valid nomination in the electoral district, the nominee shall be declared elected.

Un rappel que la date limite pour la mise en candidature pour un poste au sein du conseil d’administration de Jersey Canada est mercredi le 30 septembre 2026. Les postes suivants seront ouverts :

Last week's answer: The first Jersey Canada in-house Certificate of Registration was issued to Valleystream Maxim Joann on February 1,1999. Before this registration services were managed by the Canadian Livestock Records Corp. in Ottawa. This pivotal change was spearheaded by the Jersey Canada staff Russell Gammon, Bill Prins, Nola Brown and Sherry Pedersen and Jersey Canada President Diane Jarrell-Ray with assistance from ABRI representative, Christopher de Crespigny.

The Jersey Canada Youth Scholarship deadline is Friday, September 4th!

Jersey Canada offers two scholarships of $1,000 each to recognize outstanding interest, knowledge and achievement in the Jersey breed, as well as agriculture in general. The scholarships are available to all young Canadian Jersey enthusiasts enrolled in at least the second year of study at any post-secondary College or University, and will be presented at this year’s Royal Agricultural Winter Fair.

Jersey Canada offre deux bourses d’étude de 1000 $ chacune pour récompenser l'intérêt, la connaissance et l'accomplissement dans la race Jersey, ainsi qu'en agriculture en général. Last week's answer: The Canadian Association began its own herd book in 1905, up until then the American Jersey Cattle Club managed registration services for Canadian breeders and producers.
