MY #1 PINTEREST MARKETING TIP? ⚡️

Experiment.

You can read all of the blog posts and take all of the courses and study all of the best practices, but in the end you won’t truly know what’s going to work for your account until you get in there are start trying things.

As with all marketing platforms, having a deep understanding of Pinterest is of course essential, but there isn’t a black and white template that guarantees success.

Make educated, informed decisions to get started, but then don’t be afraid to play around with things and see what works and what doesn’t.

Your audience may surprise you and love certain content formats/topics/styles that you don’t expect, and you won’t know until you start experimenting.

It can be scary, but I promise you’re not going to ruin your Pinterest strategy if you have a couple of experiments that flop.

Worst case scenario, a few pieces of content don’t perform well.

Best case you’ve tapped into a new and innovative way of marketing yourself!

Are you a marketing rule follower? Or do you love getting in there a trying out new things? Let me know! 💘

“People come to Pinterest to plan for what could happen, not scroll through pictures of what they already did.

And that future-focused mindset is exactly what makes Pinterest so valuable as an advertising platform. People on Pinterest are ready to take action.”

This quote from Pinterest perfectly sums up what makes Pinterest so unique and valuable as a marketing platform.

It’s not social media- people aren’t there to engage or see what’s already happened.

It’s a search engine and users are there to plan for future events and take action to make those plans come true.

A few years ago, when I was super deep into the self-help/wellness lifestyle, I had a morning routine that took me, no joke, 2 hours a day.

I’d wake up with a feeling of mild dread because I felt like I had so much “work” to do before I could even start my day.

My gratitude journaling/meditation/yoga/body brushing/smoothie making routine was supposed to make me happier and healthier, but it just weighed me down.

So, one day I decided to give it up, and just do whatever I wanted to in the morning- no rules, no “shoulds,” no over-complicated uninspiring two hour long routine.

Entrepreneurs and business owners talk a lot about their morning routines, and we’re told over and over again that your morning routine can make or break the rest of the day.

Personally, I think that’s a lot of pressure to put on your morning routine.

Today, I have no set routine what so ever. Some days I wake up and go for a walk, or do some stretching.

Some days I read or clean for a bit in the morning, and some days I just jump right into work. And that flexibility works so well for me.

I think everyone needs a different structure (or lack of) to keep them feeling their best, so while I don’t have a set routine to share, I do have a few tips I think can help you to start your day in a way that is best for you.

1. Don’t listen to the “experts” – create a routine that works for you.

2. Your morning routine can change from day to day.

3: Your morning routine doesn’t have to be “healthy.” (I.e. you don’t need to be drinking your green juice and writing in your gratitude journal to have a good morning routine!)

How do you start your day? Do you thrive on structure or flexibility? Let me know! 👇🏼

97% of Pinterest searches are unbranded. ⚡️

Why is this important?

Because it means you have a user base that is actively searching for things that you offer, and they aren’t tied to a specific brand name.

They know WHAT they want, but they’re open to WHO they get it from.

They know the product/service/solution they’re looking for, and they are open to discovering new people/brands that offer it.

That’s part of the fun of Pinterest too! Discovering new ideas, brands, blogs, sources of inspiration, etc.

This is a great opportunity for smaller businesses and brands because it eliminates the competition from big players in your field.

For example, people aren’t going to Pinterest to search for Pottery Barn candles. They’re searching for “candles,” so this is the perfect platform for a small candle company to be discovered.

Do you keep hearing that you should be using Pinterest to grow your business, but you’re not really sure why or how it works?

Let me explain.

Pinterest is a (visual) search engine, and from a marketing perspective, it’s main benefit is driving traffic to your website.

Unlike social media, which is more about keeping people on the platform and socializing, engaging, starting conversations, Pinterest is more linear.

Users find your Pins → click through → land on your website (or Etsy shop, Shopify store, YouTube channel, Podcast, etc.).

From there, you can funnel this traffic towards your marketing goals (product sales, client acquisition, email list building, YouTube subscribers, etc.)

Pinterest users are on the platform in Discovery Mode- they’re on there to find inspiration, ideas, and solutions to their problems.

This could include searching for recipe ideas, outfit inspiration, home decor ideas, hair tutorials, yoga classes, wedding tips, travel plans, educational content, website design ideas, marketing tips… the list goes oooon and on.

Safe to say, your audience is on Pinterest, and they’re not only searching for what you have to offer, but they’re ready to take action.

I hope this clears up some confusion you may be having around Pinterest! Let me know below if you have any questions about the platform.

PINTEREST VS. INSTAGRAM ⚡️Do you need both for your business?

Most likely, yes.

While they are both visual platforms, they’re actually VERY different from a marketing perspective.

INSTAGRAM is a social platform.

- sharing evergreen content that will be seen for months and even years.

Together, they’re a marketing powerhouse! Pinterest driving website traffic and bringing in new leads, IG nurturing your audience and building the like-know-trust factor.

We can be really, really good at making things a lot more complicated than they need to be. Both in business and in life.

I think this comes both internally and externally. We’re always our own worst critic, and making things difficult and complicated can be a way of “proving” to ourselves that we’re not capable.

We also receive a lot of external messaging that we’re doing something wrong and that if we just buy/sign up for/change x, y, or z, we’ll finally be successful.

So if you’re finding yourself feeling overwhelmed and life feeling unnecessarily complicated, just take a deep breath and remind yourself that this doesn’t need to be so difficult. 💘☁️ let it be easy.

How to Grow Your Blog with Pinterest ✨

Pinterest and blogging are a match made in heaven 💘 I know I say this about a lot of different niches, but there are two things in particular that make using Pinterest to grow your blog a no brainer.

1. You’re already creating lots of content. Pinterest accounts see the most success when they consistently Pin fresh and interesting content.

As a blogger, your job is to create lots and lots of fresh content, so you already have all of the material you need to share to Pinterest!

2. You can see quick results. Pinterest’s main function (from a marketing perspective) is to drive website traffic. For a lot of industries, this traffic fills the top of their sales funnel, and there they need to nurture these leads into becoming customers or clients.

But as a blogger, getting website traffic is a goal in and of itself, so simply getting traffic from Pinterest is a complete funnel in itself!

Of course, you can use this traffic to do other things (grow your email list, click through affiliate links, etc.), but the traffic itself is also beneficial.

You’re already creating tons of great content and website traffic is one of your main marketing goals, so Pinterest is a no brainer!!

The two Pinterest ESSENTIALS: strong visuals and strong SEO. ⚡️

Why?

Because Pinterest is a visual search engine, so to see success you need to optimize these two elements.

Strong SEO (ie. a solid keyword strategy) will help Pinterest to understand who you are and what content you offer and then get your content ranking high in relevant search results (ie. getting your content in front of your ideal audience).

Strong visuals will catch users’ attention and encourage them to then engage with your Pins.

The two work together! Without good SEO, your content won’t be seen in the first place, but if you only have good SEO and poor visuals, your Pins may be seen but no one will take action on them (aka Save your Pins and click through to your website).

There is a LOT of info out there about how to grow on Pinterest but if you’re feeling overwhelmed, just keep these two elements in mind and you’ll be way to Pinterest success! 💘
