Here are the basic mechanics for a youth pitcher in baseball:

1. Stance & Starting Position
Stand on the rubber with feet shoulder-width apart
Keep weight balanced and body relaxed
Hold the ball in your glove at chest level

2. Wind-Up & Leg Lift
Lift your front leg to a comfortable height (around hip level)
Maintain balance at the top of the leg lift
Keep your eyes focused on the target (catcher's glove)

3. Stride & Hip Rotation
Step directly toward home plate (stride length should be 66-85% of your height)
Lead with your front hip rotating toward the target
Keep your back foot in contact with the rubber

4. Arm Path & Throwing Motion
Break your hands as you begin to stride forward
Bring your throwing arm back in a smooth, circular motion
Keep your elbow at or slightly above shoulder height
Rotate your shoulders progressively (external then internal rotation)

5. Release Point
Release the ball out in front of your body
Snap your wrist downward for proper spin
Follow through across your body

6. Follow-Through & Finish
Let your throwing arm continue naturally across your body
Your back leg should come forward for balance
Finish in an athletic, fielding-ready position

Key Tips for Youth Pitchers:
Consistency is crucial - repeat the same motion every time
Stay balanced throughout the entire delivery
Don't overthrow - focus on control over velocity
Proper warm-up is essential to prevent injury
