This month’s feature highlights Ann Yaxley, a dedicated community member who moved to Greenwood Park with her husband Paul in 2013. Originally from Quebec, Ann spent nearly 40 years working a variety of accounting and administrative roles at McGill University, where she took on the role of “mother hen” to many of the international students.
Since retiring and moving to Kingston, Ann and Paul wasted no time integrating into the community - meeting their neighbours, finding a church, and joining various organizations. They are members of St. Mark’s Anglican Church, where Ann promotes monthly events and edits the church publication, THE MARK, and Paul works with other parishioners to raise funds to repair the church’s tower.
A lifelong writer and sports enthusiast, Ann prioritizes the “personal touch,” frequently sending handwritten cards to friends and neighbours. Whether it’s through her involvement with the Seniors Association and the Kingston Newcomers Club, or cheering for the Montreal Canadiens with other fans, Ann is always looking to connect with those around her.
