A few years ago, this conversation would have sounded a little dramatic.
Today? Not really. With conversations happening around legislation and the future of social platforms, it raises a question every business owner should think about:
If Instagram and Facebook disappeared tomorrow, what would happen to your business? Would people still know where to find you? Would leads still come in? Would you still have a way to communicate with your audience?
Social media is an incredible tool. We use it every single day and it absolutely has the power to grow businesses. But it was never meant to be the entire foundation.
Because at the end of the day, we don’t own Instagram.
We don’t own Facebook.
We don’t own the algorithm.
We’re building on platforms we borrow.
The businesses creating long term stability are the ones building beyond social media. They’re investing in websites that convert, SEO that gets them found, email lists they actually own, strong branding, customer experience, referrals, and systems that continue working even when algorithms decide not to.
Social media should be a doorway. Not the entire house.
Curious... if Meta disappeared tomorrow, would your business keep running or would you be starting from scratch?
