YUM! Don’t miss out and on getting a sweet banana treat this Labour Day long weekend at the Gord Downie Pier 🍌

I tried the monkey madness frozen banana on a stick (still soft and easy to eat!) and the s’more banana bites 🤤 both delicious! My favourite is the monkey madness on a stick.

You know you got something good when the bees start coming around!!

☕️ Nora’s Coffee + Sandwiches

Other sweet treat recommendations to get at Nora’s:
aged cheddar scone (it has some sugar so definitely falls under the sweet treat category)

New favourite spot in the County!!! Darlings!!! Unbelievable vodka pizza and bruschetta (asked for the latter to be without anchovies). The bread for both dishes was to die for.

Make a reso! The place was completely full when we went!

We had a blast at Norm’s Golf and Social last night!!! ⛳️ First-timers at a golf sim with barely any golf skills between us, we enjoyed games built for beginners and the staff were kind enough to walk us through how it all works.

With today’s forecast being a scorcher, it is the perfect excuse to skip the heat and try something new indoors, and a nudge for anyone who has been thinking about getting into golf.

What I love about Norm’s is that it’s low-pressure, affordable and can be quick. We went for an hour, which made sense for our schedule, in comparison to 18-holes on a golf course. A huge plus is that gear is included, so we just showed up with clean shoes!

Norm’s is home to Kingston’s largest golf sim bays, and serves food plus a full bar (scotch, wine, coolers, beer, cider).

Free parking downtown today for this civic Monday, August 3 in Kingston!

If you have the day off, here’s what’s worth leaving the house for:

• Grab coffee from Sens Cafe or The Elm.

• Wander through Sun Harvest Greenhouses: a good excuse to leave with a plant you didn’t plan on buying.

• Get lunch at Pan Chancho: their food is excellent! croissant plates

• Sweeten up your day: Harper’s Burgers have some of the best milkshakes I’ve ever had (and I’m not normally a milkshake person!). They just launched a Tragically Hip-inspired milkshake called North of Ordinary AND one dollar from each shake sold will be donated to the Partners in Mission Food Bank.

Rainy day plan B on Sunday, August 3! The energy of summer is go go go, but rain provides that perfect opportunity to slow it right down and take a breather.

Here’s how to spend a day like today in Kingston:

• visit a bookstore and browse the quiet stacks: Novel Idea and Berry & Peterson Booksellers are both open until 5:00 p.m. on Sundays, and Bookland until 4:00 p.m.

• read at a coffee shop: one of my favourite activities is going to a coffee shop while it’s raining out. There’s something soothing about the experience.

• order in from one of the many restaurants across Kingston and watch a movie at home.

• do an escape room at Improbable Escapes: either at the downtown or west end location. an active and engaging indoor activity.

What’s your ideal way to spend a rainy summer day?

Coffee this long weekend!!! ☕️ hot or iced baby.

Here are the spots worth leaving the house for:

The Elm - can’t go wrong with anything here. Their cinnamon bun and sea salt caramel iced lattes are phenomenal, and their oatmeal chocolate chip cookies are my absolute favourite! The Elm Cafe

Sens Cafe - this place is awesome! Usually quite busy, but if you can find a spot to sit, take it! They serve stronger espresso-based drinks and delicious treats from chocolate makers and bakers. SENS CAFE Canada 🇨🇵🇨🇦

Northside - drinks are best served in their beautiful blue coffee mug while enjoying their delicious food! NORTHSIDE

Coffee Company - great espresso-based drinks, tons of treats, lots of seating. Coffee and Company Kingston

Kingston Coffee House - love the vibe. Great view of Springer Market Square.

Juniper Cafe - two locations - either one is great. Downtown one is in the Tett Centre building. It’s more quaint and you can walk or sit by the water. West end is bigger, more food options and their food is fantastic! Juniper Cafe

Prince Edward County:
Rise Coffee House (Wellington) - my favourite in the county!!! Stronger espresso-based drinks, fantastic cookies and excellent vibe. Rise Coffee House

PECish Express in Claramount Club - yummy coffee and treats! Enjoy the patio with your coffee and bake in some time to in all that is Claramount club during this visit. It’s a phenomenal experience. PECish XPRESS Claramount Club
