I am at a complete loss for words and i would like to extend my deepest condolences to Matthew's wife Katia as well as the entire Schreindorfer family.
I believe it goes without saying that the world lost an extraordinary man but God gained one tough angel. Even though I did not know Matt personally, his story was one that could not be ignored because of Matthew's selflessness! This was not just someone asking for help, this was a man asking for help so that he could help others in return.
It takes a special kind of person to endure so much pain on a daily basis and despite his personal struggles go above and beyond to help others. Matt helped raise awareness for immunotherapies in Canada and also raised close to 1 million dollars, spoke at conferences & was even invited to speak at the Pfizer head office. He devoted his time and energy to secure a grant in order to gain access to innovative new types of immunothérapies.
Matthew's story is one that has touched and will continue to touch the lives of so many! The personal connection that was shared over social media with all of us was so pure, Matthew's smile could brighten anyone's day!

It is with the deepest pain and sadness that I must inform you all of the passing of our amazing Matt. He has left us peacefully, over the weekend, with absolutely no pain or suffering.
There are no words to describe just how truly special Matt was and will forever be. The physical and mental strength he demonstrated throughout his entire battle was beyond incredible, and truly surreal. He never ceased to smile, make jokes, stay active and make sure everybody around him was ok. A true superhero.
From the moment he was diagnosed Matt began to change lives. Initially by raising money for research, but then by inspiring thousands through his page with his extremely positive attitude and remarkable will to stay alive. Not only did he fight a valiant battle but he was also on a mission to bring further treatments to Canada in order to save others. He inspired, surprised and touched the heart of every person, doctor and nurse that ever crossed his path and we are so thankful for every single one of them. He was one of a kind, truly unique in every way, as no one had ever gone through that many different treatments and made it this far. However, he was given a mission early on in life and he was determined to see it through.
Matt never gave up and fought until the absolute end! He went with serenity, acceptance and happiness with everything he had accomplished in his short, but amazing life; feeling he had done what he needed to do. He was at peace with leaving us.
I was the luckiest person in the world to have shared a life with him and be loved by him for 11 and a half years. We had the purest and strongest love, one that will live on forever. He has changed my life and I hope to continue to make him proud every single day. The love and pride he had for his family was one of the deepest and being surrounded by them everyday gave him strength. He will continue to watch and protect his amazing sisters from afar just like he always did.
If you or someone you know is fighting for their life right now, please do not let this news bring you down. Matt wouldn't have wanted that! Please Keep On Keepin’ On, with a positive attitude and a smile and the will to fight. You will win this battle! Matt will be there watching and helping you.
Matt and I had many discussions about where the money would go, if something unforeseen should happen. I will now, at Matt's request, make it my mission to see that patients receive comfort they deserve while undergoing treatments. Please rest assured that all of the money will be shared between research and patients care.
If you have raised any funds for the Help Save Matthew campaign we would encourage you to please donate it to a cause that is close to your heart.
For those of you who never had the honor or meeting Matthew, but loved him just as much as we do, there will be a small memorial where you can come pay your respects. Details will confirmed shortly and I will advise you in the following days. In lieu of flowers, Matt wanted to continue to save lives, so please consider donating blood/platelets, or becoming a bone marrow donor.
Matt will stay in all of our hearts forever!
See you later babe. Love you with all my heart, always have always will.
