We don’t open a marketing project by talking about tactics.
Every marketing project has three layers: What, How, and Why. The visible activity (the What, meaning the ads, the posts, the campaign) sits on the outside. The goal (the Why) sits at the core. Most teams start on the outside and work in. We start at the core and work out.
The Why to How to What shape may look familiar. It echoes the Golden Circle. We use it a little differently here: as the running order for a marketing project, not a brand’s purpose statement. Before any ex*****on begins, the studio and the client agree on the goal. That first conversation is expectation management, and it is where most projects are quietly won or lost.
Find the Why first. The rest gets easier.
Save this for your next marketing project. And if someone you know is planning a campaign, send it their way.
