You've decided that you want to get your website made. Now... where are you going to find the right developer to complete the project?
It is very hard to find a good software/web developer out there. Make sure the business has great, verifiable reviews. Nowadays, many people just have fake reviews on their website. Watch out for this and look for those agencies that separate themselves by having reviews on a verified platform such as a Google Business listing or other external platforms that have reviews. I would recommend to look for at least 20 verifiable reviews when making your decision.
Cheaper doesn't mean better. As I said before, website work is often outsourced due to cheaper pricing. However, a website can be a very complicated and personalized thing, and you should get a real expert who has experience working with clients and delivering a fantastic job. Working locally may be more expensive but you can build a relationship easier with a website developer if they are local which will make the whole process smoother.
Do some research. You should try to figure out which platform will be best for your website. Have an eCommerce store? Go with Shopify. Have a regular service based business? Go with WordPress. Have something completely custom that neither of the previous platforms support? Go with React. It is important that your developer puts you on the right platform as this will make your life so much easier when managing your website in the future. Many times, a developer may use a very out of date platform to create your website and if the relationship sours, it is hard to get another developer to work on it.
It is important to do these things to make sure that you are finding the right website developer for you. Please also make sure you have access to everything that the website developer has access to which includes domain access, hosting logins, website logins etc. This is so that a developer cannot hold your website hostage from you if things turn bad.
